She would roll over in bed and watch Cloud sleeping across from her, so distant it seemed the sheets alone held him in place. Sometimes she couldn't sleep until she slipped from her own bed, and tucked them a little tighter around his shoulders. Just in case.

Cloud didn't accept her home as his home. It hurt her, somewhere inside. A misplaced ache in her chest when he turned to leave. She told him it was his home - he knew it was his home. But he never acted like it was his home.

He never acted like he had a home.

Red XIII pauses mid-step, turning his head to regard the girl bouncing angrily at his side. "What's the matter?" He asks.

"I was trying," she holds a black box aloft, "to take your photograph. You're supposed to stand still," she says, shaking the box - the camera - for emphasis.

He ducks his head. "My apologies, Yuffie. I did not notice."

Her arms drop to her side, camera forgotten, to gape at him. "Hello! Standing right here? With a camera?"

He tosses his head by way of a gesture, "and I cannot see you on that side."
