Mother’s Day

A/N: Why I found this so cathartic to write, I hesitate to think about. o_O;
He stands before the pod, eyes fixed on its contents. His lean frame shudders as though earthquakes echo every heartbeat. He does not blink.
The words he had planned for this joyous moment hang in his throat; his tongue cleaves to the roof of his mouth as he struggles not to vomit.
This is not what he expected.
It is exactly what he expected.
Genesis was right: he, Sephiroth, son of a monster, was the greatest monster of all.
His features relax in a serene smile. He raises steady hands as the words tumble from his lips. “I’m here, Mother.”
