"What color's this?" Marlene held something out to Rude.

He peered at it before handing it back "I can't tell."

"Why?"

An eyebrow raised. "These." He tapped the temple of his shades.

"Why?"

"They keep the sun out of my eyes."

Marlene seemed to ponder this for a second, then asked again. "Why?"

"It hurts."

She nodded in agreement with this answer before a quizzical look crossed her face. "Why?"

Rude tugged uncomfortably at his collar before answering. "It's made of fire."

"Why?"

Rude decided that, with her tenacity, Marlene would make a fine, merciless Turk when she grew up.

Aw man, I remember the "Why" phase. After the third or forth response, no matter how patient you are, you're like "WTF DO YOU WANT TO KNOW?"

Robin Williams did a bit with this years ago. Hysterical.

Another fun drabble from you! But I hope it doesn't inspire me to write another toddler!fic like your last one did. I'm never going to live that one down, on account of I'm supposed to write porn. *shrugs*

Being kidlet-free, I had to check with one of my friends to make sure that I was getting the age right for it. Her response was that they go through it three times. The first time, at about 2 or 3, is when they finally can make all the right sounds to say "why" and they're all excited about it. The second is when they reach 5 or so and they're really wanting to know "why" about everything under the sun. The third is when they're 8 or 9 and just want to annoy the crap out of you, but they're old enough to get annoyed by it too, so a bout of it doesn't last as long when they start. I think I'd be threatening to wash their mouths out with soap when they started if I ever had kidlets of my own.

I'm so glad you liked it! And...well...the world can always use more toddler!fic for giggles...but pr0n is so VERY nice!
