It shouldn't have happened, but accidents are never supposed to. When Cid hears the scream, he's the first one there. One of the Shera's massive engine modules rests like a ruin at an odd angle on the hangar floor. One of her mechanics lies beneath it, pale and shivering. It's already too late. Cid can see that the only thing keeping the young man alive at this point is the pressure of the machinery, holding together what's left of him.

"Let me go, Captain," he whispers, understanding.

With an anguished cry and the leverage provided by his spear, Cid does.

Agreed. And original. A tragedy in the aeronautics program -- don't think I would ever have thought of that for this prompt.
