Rufus held a crystal in his palm, staring at the way it flickered in the artificial light every time his wrist trembled.

It was given to him by a man who was now missing – possibly sent to death by one of his orders.

The crystal darkened and Rufus startled.

“I’m all right,” Tseng said. He knelt and closed Rufus’ fingers around the crystal. “I told that this would bring us luck if you held onto it.”

“I never let it go,” Rufus whispered.

“I know,” Tseng murmured. His lips brushed Rufus’ hand before he pulled him into a strong embrace.
