Propriety

Title: Propriety
Challenge: First Lines
Characters: Reeve, Yuffie

Team: SOLDIER
Word count: 100
A/N: And now I seem to be on a T.S. Eliot kick… This one’s from “The Naming of Cats.”  :3

“The Naming of Cats is a difficult matter, it isn’t just one of your holiday games; you may think at first I’m as mad as a hatter when I tell you, a cat must have THREE DIFFERENT NAMES.”

Yuffie stared. “Riiiiight…”

“No, seriously,” Reeve replied, gesturing. “Take this little fellow.”

“Reeve, you do know that’s not a real cat?”

“That doesn’t matter! He still gets a proper name, because, well, it’s proper, that’s why!”

“…uh-huh…”

“He’s one of my Cait Sith models, so that’s his first name. He reminds me of my old cat, Snookums, but I only call him that around people I trust.”

“Let me guess, his third name is the date of his next oil change?”

Reeve gave the little ninja a disapproving glower. “Cats never tell humans their Third Name.”

“…You are so weird.”
