Phoenix / Sleeping / Waking / Unlocked / Geneology / Baby Mine /
Title: Phoenix
Characters/Pairings: Avalanche, Sephiroth
Team: Avalanche
Word Count: 100
Author's Note: Just to warn you, this is probably going to be nearly all fixit, just because I am a total mushball.
Sephiroth's sword slid free so very slowly, smirking right at Cloud as Aeris slumped to the floor and not even glancing down at her, the bastard, and he didn't even bother to wipe her blood away as Cloud's vision fogged and his throat caught tight; gods, Aeris!
"What the hell, Cloud!" Barret roared from behind him, and not even that could break his paralysis - Aeris dead, and it was his fault! - but he dimly saw the flicker of a red cape as Vincent vaulted up onto the platform, something small glowing a brilliant, soft gold in his hand.
Title: Sleeping
Characters/Pairings: Sephiroth, techies, Hojo mentioned
Team: Avalanche
Word Count: 100
Occasionally there was a call for a - volunteer in the labs; preferably someone less breakable than most. The tech administered Hojo's latest concoction, needle sliding smoothly from Sephiroth's arm, and the General sat quietly - the Great Sephiroth, reduced to Hojo's lab rat yet again - and waited for it to take effect.
Without warning his muscles seized, toppled him off the table; the stunned techs panicked, and Sephiroth's last coherent thought was that Zack would be upset with him for being out of commission just as they heard of the Nibelheim deployment, right when Cloud needed them most.
Title: Waking
Characters/Pairings: Avalanche, Sephiroth, Jenova
Team: Avalanche
Word Count: 100
Author's Notes:
raisedbymoogles and I came up with this idea ages ago, but it never quite made it into a drabble here - hope this meets with her approval. *hugs!*
The creature thrashed and roared, stumpy wings beating as Avalanche hit it with everything they had - it shuddered, blindly lashing out at the tiny things below, and Cloud threw himself past the thing's heavily flailing limbs to hit it with the strongest Limit he had-
It screamed, dying, and the thing attached to the Jenova-monster's crest - like a bizarre figurehead - opened its eyes.
The last dregs of Sephiroth's own unpolluted awareness stared down at Cloud through the figurehead's eyes, and as the remains of the former General realised in horror what he'd become, he hid his face and wept.
Title: Unlocked
Characters/Pairings: Zack, Sephiroth, Vincent, Cloud
Team: Avalanche
Word Count: 100
"Out of my way," Sephiroth said coldly as Zack barred his way. "I'm going to see my mother."
"Seph, give me a clue here!" Zack begged, hands held out pleadingly. "You've been down here for days, what's going on?"
Sephiroth's eyes glazed momentarily, then he shook his head and started forward. "Move."
"Sure, just tell me- woah!" Sephiroth had lost patience; his arm snapped out, sending Zack crashing into Cloud and the both of them hurtling through the locked door into the far room.
A room full of coffins.
Even Sephiroth paused as one of the lids began to move.
Title: Geneology
Characters/Pairings: Sephiroth
Team: Avalanche
Word Count: 100
Author's note: Who's to say the President isn't firing blanks anyway? Just hope that your designer baby doesn't come pre-Jenova'd.
Sephiroth read through the stack of paper, sighing quietly as he denied the most recent ridiculous piece of deployment paperwork. How could Heidegger seriously expect him to send General Strife to Nibelheim for a tech job?
Zack poked his head in, irreverent as always; he grinned as he saw the minute twitch of an eyebrow as Sephiroth deliberately didn't look up. "Hey boss! Ready to go? The chopper's here."
"One of these days, Turk First Class," Sephiroth Shinra said drily, pushing his blonde fringe out of his eyes and absently straightening his suit, "you'll come to work wearing your tie."
Title: Baby Mine
Characters/Pairings: Sephiroth
Team: Avalanche
Word Count: 100
Elmyra knelt by the poor woman at the station steps, trying to think of something she could do for her - Ifalna was dying, no question of that, but no-one should die in pain and wanting like her husband had.
"Please," the other woman managed, desperate eyes catching Elmyra's. "Please take care of my daughter..."
Daughter. Elymra looked at the little girl at Ifalna's side, hardly more than a baby and clinging to her Mama-
"...and my boy."
There was only the faintest resemblance, something in his bones and the wave of his bone-white hair, but...
"Aeris - and Sephiroth."
