Said best friend was currently contemplating a dress they’d passed. Its color matched his eyes almost exactly, and when Cloud had pointed it out, Zack had gotten that grin on his face.

“No, really,” he said, attempting to dissuade the SOLDIER.

“I dunno, there’s these materia out there that can change gender…” Zack said, and Cloud cut him off, shaking his head. Instead, Zack smirked and leaned in close. “If I’d be an ugly girl, I bet you’d be damn cute.”

“Why do I have to be the girl?” Reno grumped.

“Because you’re skinny and pretty, and I like how your ass looks when you wear heels.”

Reno pouted. “This sucks. I know you need bodyguards, but come on now.” He took a furtive glance around the ballroom, adjusting himself discreetly. Stockings rode up like a bitch. Elena gave him a cheeky little wave, from where she was dancing with Rude.

“Come on, Boss. Couldn’t we just have been a couple’a fags? I mean, Midgar’s progressive, right?”

Rufus snorted. “Think undercover, Reno, undercover. That means pretending to be something you’re not.”

SOLDIER didn't take kindly to Avalanche stealing their trophy, so this week they pulled out all the stops.  They defied the pretense of gender for 130 points.  The Turks came back from their lazy days to dress it up a bit for ShinRa.  They came in second with 70 points.  Avalanche didn't even have a chance with their measly 10 points.

This week's prompt is #44 - Childhood

What were the characters like as children?  Do they have fond memories of dodge ball and hopscotch?

Was Genesis really the hellion he seems to have been?  Did Aerith eat paste in kindergarten?  Was Rufus the school yard geek or the bully?  How many science fair medals did Hojo win?  Was Angeal always brining home stray animals and asking if he could keep them?  Was Reno a bed-wetter?  Did  Cid play with toy rockets? Did Cloud have a chocobo stuffy? Could Rude go to sleep without a bedtime story? Did they have sleep-overs, birthday parties, school field trips?
