Jenova Drabbles
Title: See cuts.
Characters/Pairings: See cuts.
Team: Turks
Word Count: 100 each
Series: Original and Advent Children
Author's Notes: The first two were my immediate thoughts upon seeing the prompt. The second one particularly.

--DIsguise--

Very few people knew the wheelchair was mostly for show. In fact, they could be counted on one hand: Tseng, Rude, Reno, Elena. Loudmouthed, maybe, but loyal people are still loyal. Safe enough.

The people who knew the sheet actually was necessary could be counted on one finger: himself.

Jenova was too sensitive a matter to entrust to anyone, even if they were loyal. Not safe enough then.

So he would let the world think he’s weak. Let the world think he’s disfigured. Because in the end, he’s still in control.

The perfect disguise.

--Yo momma--

There were some kinds of jokes that found themselves below even Reno’s humor. At least most of the time. Sometimes it more depended on opportunity.

And Kadaj was just stepping on it, constantly. The only saving grace was that the two weren’t around each other that much.

Unfortunately, their paths did occasionally intersect, and as Kadaj started yet again spouting some nonsense about his mother, Reno could not help but find the temptation completely, utterly impossible to resist.

“Yo momma...”

Reno didn’t get any farther than that, and it took him a while to dig himself out of the dirt.

--A Good Son--

“A good son would have known.” These were the words from the mouth of Rufus Shinra when he showed Kadaj that his mother had been right there all along, sitting in a box neatly hidden under a white sheet. Words meant to strike a pointed blow to the boy who had so enjoyed his power and devotion. Words meant to make a point. Words meant to get under Kadaj’s skin. Words hopefully distracting enough to keep Kadaj from jumping in time to save that precious box.

The inherant irony of Rufus’ statement was lost on Kadaj, but not on himself.

--Experiment--

When Hojo looked at Lucrecia, he no longer saw a woman. Nor did he see an assistant. When he looked at Lucrecia he saw Jenova.

That was most of what she was now, enough changed that she was more Jenova than herself. She didn’t seem to mind, and frankly Hojo wouldn’t care if she did. She was an experiment and experiments aren’t entitled to emotions. Most people would assume that’s what he thought.

When Hojo looked at Lucrecia he didn’t see a woman, an assistant, an experiment, or even an object. He saw a future he was helping to create.
