A spys gotta do what a spys gotta do
Who: Tru Davies and OTA (Survivors)
Where: The Beach
When: Day 5, early evening

Tru stood on the beach, staring out at the ocean. She already missed Chana and Razzle, the beach seemed like a whole different world - an alternate reality even. Ben, of course was not happen when Tru hadn't fully made a list yet, but the fact there were two pregnant woman made him ecstatic. He had already told Tru where to find "the supplies" when the time was right. He also told her he'd send an informant when the time to kidnap the girls was.

Tru wasn't to sure she liked this idea. She liked Claire, and although she hadn't spoken much to Juno, she was sure the other girl was nice too. They were both so young, and none of them had any idea what would happen to them.

No one on the island did, and Tru desperately wanted to tell them. Especially Boone.

Sighing to herself she walked down the beach towards the gigantic signal fire. It almost made her want to laugh. The fire wouldn't do any good. No one knew where they were. No one was coming.

"Welcome to your new life," Tru muttered under her breath. "Enjoy it while it lasts..."

Sawyer was on the beach, stretching his legs a little, when he saw Tru standing by herself. He'd heard of the woman, but hadn't met her yet.

She was pretty damn cute, so the con decided it was worth going over to introduce himself.

He watched her as she stared off at the ocean before speaking up. "You lookin' for a rescue ship?" he asked, a twinkle in his eye. "Or are you just bored?"

Tru looked over and smiled slightly, instantly recognizing the man who was addressing her. She had made it her mission the first two days to learn everyone's names. Of course she pretended she didn't know this much, which was surprisingly easy.

"Maybe a little of both," she shrugged. "Not like there is that much to do around here."

Liar.

Sawyer grinned in response to that. "True enough..." He looked out over the water, then back at Tru. "You know, I gotta deck of cards if you'd rather play cards than watch the ocean for the rest of the day."

Tru grinned slightly, she was instantly reminded of her younger brother Harrison. While cards were more his thing, Tru wasn't going to pass up on opportunity to get to know more of the survivors.

"You got any money?" she cocked an eyebrow.

"Some," the man said, shrugging his shoulders. "I got stuff that's better, though," he added. "Medicine, alcohol... Whatever you want..." He grinned. "So you play high stakes poker, huh?"

Medicine, alcohol? Tru arched an eyebrow.

"Not really, well...I never really had time for it back home," Tru rephrased her sentence. She had played poker once or twice with Harrison, but it really was more his thing than hers. And she was constantly bailing him out from sticky situations.

But Sawyer didn't need to know that.

"So medicine and alcohol?" Tru cocked her head to one side. "How did you get your hands on that?"

Sawyer shrugged. "Ain't hard to learn..." he said, smirking. "If you're up for it, that is."

In answer to his second question, Sawyer leveled his eyes at her. "Most everybody's scared of dead people. I'm not." It was a simple enough answer, and very very true.

"Why wouldn't I be up for it," Tru grinned. "Anything is better than sitting around and wondering when the rescue party is gonna come."

Tru cocked her head, and couldn't help but wonder if all the survivors crashed here for a reason. It wouldn't surprise her if Ben had fixed the entire thing. "That's definitely one thing we have in common," she nodded slightly. "The not being of dead people part. I us...I work at a morgue back home. Dead people come with the territory."

Tru mentally kicked herself, she had almost slipped up again. Not good, not good.

Sawyer smirked. "Oh, I don't know... See, it's just that I'm damn good at poker, and people don't like to play me, cuz they lose."

He looked at her. "A morgue, huh?" He paused for a minute. "What's a pretty little thing like you doin' workin' in a morgue?"

"Well who knows," Tru smiled. "Maybe your luck will change today, there is a first for everything, right?"

She laughed slightly, "It's a long story."

He smirked. "Now, honey... I my luck ain't never changed at the poker table... And I don't expect it to."

He shrugged. "I got time."

"Well, you've never played me before," Tru grinned.

"It's boring, besides there won't be time if you want to play a real game of poker."

It was a lame excuse but it was all Tru could think of.

He smirked. "I've played world champions and kicked their asses, sweetheart," he said with a charming smile and a wink. "Pretty sure I could take you."

He looked her over. "You don't look like the kind of person who'd be boring. And... Hell, you can tell me while we play."
