Who: Darry Jenner & Jordan Shephard
Where: Near Survivor Camp
When: Day 3; September 24, 2004; Early evening

It had been a couple days since Darry had heard what sounded like a plane crash. He hadn't been overly excited to check out the damage though, considering where his curiosity had landed him last time. So he had been avoiding the areas in the direction noises seemed to be coming from.

Now though, he felt that he absolutely needed to know what had landed on his island. No, landed wasn't the right word. He needed to know what his island had caught for him. Hopefully it was something tasty, or at least entertaining. Hell, he'd settle for shiny at this point.

He had been walking for about an hour, thinking about what he might find. Bacon, television, an all-you-can-eat burrito buffet. That's when he saw her, a woman. This was different than all the times he had talked to imaginary Trish though. This woman looked very...real.

Taking another step forward, he called out uncertainly, "Hello?"

Jordan had been wandering for a few hours. She kept on imagining her father. Yes, she may have only met him twice but he keeps on coming to his dream. The weird fact was that he's dead. But he felt so real. This time Jordan didn't hesitate to follow him it was obvious he- or the figure wanted her to. The figure lead her into the jungle, she shouldn't venture too far from the crash scene but everything surrounding her was hazy apart from Christian Shephard's figure.

"Hello?" She stopped in her tracks when she heard someone call out. She saw the figure's mouth moving, but she could tell that wasn't it. Rubbing her eyes she replied, "Who's there?"

Darry took a step closer, dropping his makeshift spear and holding up his hands to show he wasn't a threat. The first response that came to mind was a cheesy pick-up line, but he held it back.

"I'm," he stumbled with the words for a moment. Having not had to actively use his name in the last six months. "I'm Darry." He wiped his hand on his tattered jeans in an attempt to get some of the grime off, and then held it out for a shake.

[ooc: My computer isn't letting me respond to your email for some reason. I'm trying to figure out what's up with it, but haven't had any luck so far. I like your idea though. Figured you'd like the honor of starting it. :)]

Jordan watched the stranger with curiosity. Although she hasn’t spoken to many of the survivors, she had always been a good observer that she had a funny feeling this person had not been on the beach.

When he put his spear down and approached her, she took a step back, still uncertain. When he held his hand out Jordan argued with herself for a little while longer before extending her own out. "I’m Jordan." She watched their hands form into a shake before asking what was on her mind, she looked back up to him "Were, were you on the plane?"

[ah, stupid email! But that’s cool you’ll like the idea. Yep sure I’ll start it...it’ll come a bit later onish =D]

Darry smiled and said, "Nice to meet you, Jordan." And then came her confirmation that a plane crash had indeed been the source of all the noise. He considered whether or not answer her question truthfully, as he noticed an edible berry bush a couple of feet away.

He plucked one of the small berries off, and popped it into his mouth. After chewing and swallowing, he turned his attention back to Jordan. "I suppose you wouldn't believe me if I said I was." With a shrug, he added, "I suppose I'm caught then."

After a moment's pause, he added uncertainly, "You were on the plane though, right?"

[ooc: Alright, coolness!]

Darry grinned, and joked, "Well, at least we've finally discovered the answer to the age old question: Which came first, the bird or the egg?" Sure, it was a corny thing to say, but it was the first thing that came to mind.

He was thoroughly enjoying rambling to this beautiful stranger, after his many months of solitude.

"Nah, life on the beach isn't for me." His tone became more serious as he added, "Rescuers aren't the only one's who have an easier time spotting beach dwellers. There's also," he trailed off for a moment, thinking about the Creeper. "Other things."

He sighed and shrugged his shoulders, regaining his joking tone, "Besides, who wants to deal with the sunburns?"

Jordan smiled, his corn question reminded her when she was growing up, she heard it all the time amongst her year group “Of course the bird always comes first, that’s such an obvious question.” She had to laugh at herself.

She caught herself admiring him, she had a hard time accepting that he was on this island and wasn’t on the plane. How did he get here then?

His remarks about the beach surprised her. Being from Bondi, Sydney she practically grew up on the beach. "Aw c’mon, the beach isn’t so bad; I’ve lived near one my whole life." She paused when he mentioned, and she repeated "Other things? And there’s plenty of ways to avoid sunburns." She informed with a nod.

Darry grinned and laughed along with her. He had to agree that the bird came first.

Her comment about growing up on the beach gave him a sudden newfound love for the sand. If beauties like her had been on the island's beach before, he likely would have risked a Creeper attack.

Avoiding the question at first, he replied in a forced joke, "If only I had thought to bring my sunscreen." He took a moment, trying to choose the right words to elaborate on the other things, "As far as other things go, let's just say planes and boats aren't the only way to get here."

Jordan managed to contain her laugh and started to point out what she thought was cute about the stranger, she also question herself if that was wrong because they only met...stranded on an island out of all places. Now if this was Bondi Beach, she would be happily trying to pick him up.

She noticed his hesitation about answering a particular question; she started to wonder if he had encountered something unusual for him to be like that. She figured she will find out if they talk long enough "I’m sure they’ll be sunscreens back on the beach." She felt stupid for questioning his other things, being on an island they hadn’t heard about was sure to bring God knows what. She nodded, eyeing off some berries on the bush, she walked towards him and reached extended her arm, before stopping "You sure these are alright?" She asked quickly glancing back to him, then picking a berry off. As she brought her arm back down, she froze when she heard movement in the bushes. "Darry..."

Darry mock-pantomimed a dagger going through his heart, when she made the comment about guys. He then picked up the spear from where it had fallen. Grinning, he replied, "Yeah, we'll see."

He found a break in the bushes, and stepped through, amazed by how close to his home they actually were. It was only a couple of minutes before they reached the opening of the small cave.

There were vines hanging down over the opening, providing a sort of beaded door allusion. The opening itself was a few feet wider than the average person, and about a foot taller. Inside directly to the right was a primitive bed, made-up mostly of leafs. To the left were various pots and pans filled with water. There was also six months worth of various island trinkets and supplies scattered around.

He chuckled to himself and apologized, "Sorry about the mess, it's been a while since I've had company."

Jordan rolled her eyes at Darry’s mocked dagger going through his heart, it also made her chuckle slightly. She waited for a moment after he started off before actually following him, the uncertain feeling wouldn’t leave her alone, so she shrugged it off yet again.

As they were walking, she glanced back a couple of times and all she could see was bush, she was sure she was miles away from the beach, it would probably take her forever to get back. Realising silence had over-come them both she chewed her lip thinking of where to pick up again, she grinned as she started to drag him off course "Hey, look! There’s a bush!" She smirked as she let go of him "I’m kidding, that was really bad."

As she finished apologizing she saw vines hanging down and watched as Darry moved them out of the way, she hesitated yet again before stepping inside, and started to look around. She was amazed, it really was a home, surely he would have been here for good couple of months to make this up. The thought grew uncertainty in her stomach, would she be here that long too?

Smiling after Darry apologised "It’s okay..." She walked over to his pots and pans picking an empty one, then turning to him, surprised "Did you have these when you arrived?”"

Darry grinned, at her bush comment. "Oh, no. I appreciate a good bush siting as much as the next guy. I hear they're quite rare around here nowadays." He laughed at the corniness of it.

He leaned the spear he had been carrying against the wall, with a couple others. Looking over to see what she was asking about, "Not exactly." A pause, "They actually sort of just appeared."

Realizing how strange that must sound, he tried to elaborate, "I was out looking for food one day, and found them lying on some rocks. They looked practically new, so I spent some time looking around for the owner. Didn't ever find anyone though."

He turned back toward his bed, suddenly remembering his chalk drawings. The Adventures of Super Bunny wall comic suddenly didn't seem like such a good idea. If only there was some way he could cover it up...

Jordan smirked "I think you’re right about them being rare, I’ve always wondered if the rumours were true...guess we proved they were."

She looked up from the pan as Darry explained, here he goes confusing her again, but was glad when he explained "Oh, well it’s their loss if they leave it behind for anyone to pick up." She gave a shrug as she put the pan back in it’s place, continuing to look around, it’s small, but effective, so she was impressed "It must have taken you quiet sometime to set this up..."

Finding herself walking closer to him, she realised he was looking at something with an expression of what would you say, regret? She followed his eye movement to the space on the wall and tried to cover up her smirk when she saw the drawings "You’re...um... Very artistic."

Darry sincerely replied, "I'm sorry." He wasn't sure whether he should be pressing for details or not, so he asked, "Do you want to talk about it?"

Laughing, "No way! I totally kicked bee ass. Like a ninja. A professional, stealthy, ass-kicking ninja."

He nodded, trying to summon the part of his brain that formed coherent sentences. But her lips kept calling to him, begging to be stared at. To be touched again, even kissed.

Turning back toward the food supply, he searched for a distraction. "There's, umm, other food too. Some berries, bell peppers, mangos, dates, nuts..." He stopped rambling when he'd realized the way his list was headed.

"It's okay, it's not your fault." Still tossing up whether or not to tell him, the truth was there was nothing really to tell, that she had already told him half of the story "Well, I recently met my birth father for the first time and he told me that he had a son, I've always wanted a big brother or sister." She stopped to take a breather "Well um, anyway, I had enough of my mother telling me what I can and can't do and decided I wanted to find him. That's how I ended here, I guess." Wow, she must have needed to get that out with all the rambling she just put the poor guy through.

She watched him as he started listing the food availble and covered her smirk as she also caught on to where he was heading, but decided to keep it to herself "You know, you're making me hungry. I love mangos." She informed.

Darry nodded along, listening to her story. Speaking only when she was done. "This may sound strange, coming from someone who's been stuck here for so long, but I think everyone ends up here for a reason." He paused, "Maybe it'll be better for your biological brother to remain a mystery." He tried to collect his thoughts before hurrying on, "This whole island situation tends to bring out a sense of unity between people, or so I've seen in movies. You mentioned there being people back at the beach...Maybe they're meant to become like family for you. The whole survival thing bringing you closer and all that."

Grateful that she'd given him something to go off of, he carefully selected one of the best looking mangos. Holding it out to her, "Here ya go, ripe and delicious!" He quickly and awkwardly added, "The mango that is."

"Like a movie..." She thought about that for a moment "Maybe we're on a hidden set and we've all been PUNK'd" Wow, that was really stupid "Maybe, I dunno, I've only really spoken to one person back there, we'll just have to wait and see." Hoping she wasn't on the island long enough too.

Reaching out for the mago, she watched as their fingers touched, she glanced up to him "Oh, really? I thought you were talking about yourself." She let out a chuckle.

Darry returned the smile, "Thanks, I hope so too."

He realized the slip too late, and hoped he hadn't upset her. "It must have been rough." Another apology sounded repetitive and out of place, instead he grinned, "When we get off this island, how about I help you track down that brother of yours?"

"Oh, right!" He grinned, realizing he was probably making her uncomfortable, "I completely forgot with the excitement of company and all." Grabbing a handful of berries, he walked over and took a seat on the bed next to her.

"You're welcome." She simply replied

It didn't upset her at all, so she gave a shrug "It had it's moments but we survived...well not if you count our last argument." Her smile grew as she mentioned he would help with finding her brother. "Really? I mean, I'll probably need all the help I can get. I just know his name and that his a doctor. Christian- my dad- never mentioned where he worked."

Jordan laughed at his forgetful-ness and watched him sitting next to her, things had gotten a little bit easier, as they were probably getting over the awkwardness first meeting stage, she cut off a piece of mango "Wanna add mango flavour to those berries?"

Darry's grin continued, "Of course. And there can't be too many doctors with the same name, after all they have to be somewhat distinguishable if they're in a career that has a massive possibility of being sued."

He gladly accepted the piece of mango, laughing, "Sure, wanna add some berry flavour to that mango?"

Darry chuckled a little, "Well, it's very much appreciated." A pause, and in a defeated tone, "Guess my berry defense wasn't that convincing, huh?"

His ears perked up at the mention of her seeing her dead father. Speaking slowly, and thinking about each word as he said them, "Your dead father." Well, that supported one of his original thoughts about the island. Maybe only dead people did come here, it was shaping up to be a lot like heaven...

Curiously, "Where'd you see him?"

She chuckled, “But the berries were tasty.”

Oh crap, Jordan’s heart skipped a long beat in what seemed like forever when she saw Darry’s expression. Too much information she gave him.

“In the jungle earlier...” She started pacing when she realised she needed to sit down, so she sat on his bed again “Or, you know, maybe I was dreaming or something and didn’t really see him...” Lowering her head she fiddles with her fingers “This is probably the last thing you needed to hear...”

A grin, "No complaints here either."

Darry shook his head, and said reassuringly, "No, it's fine. I'd much rather know when strange things are happening, rather than being left in the dark." He thought about what she had said, before asking, "So that's why you were away from the beach group?"

Thinking aloud, "It seems strange that both of our pasts would come back to haunt us in such a short time frame..."

His mind started racing at her response, there were so many different ways he could go with this. He had a witty reply, but unfortunately the first thing that popped out was, "I...hog the covers." He walked over to the bed, and looked back at her with a smile, "You know, it's not too late for you to back out and let me win." Although, he probably wouldn't enjoy a night on the floor as much as on the bed, he didn't want her to feel trapped.

He produced a couple over-sized burlap sacks from one of the piles of accumulated supplies. The closest things he had to blankets.

Jordan shook her head “Oookay” She decided not to push it, after all she didn’t really want to know.

She was stumped, she was actually expecting a little more than hogging the covers, and she couldn’t help roll her eyes “Why doesn’t that surprise me.” Then under her breath “Typical men.” Not caring if he had heard it.

Deciding to walk over to him, she laughed at the thought of her giving up “Yeah I could...” Forcing a long pause “But I don’t feel like it.”

Darry pretended to be shocked when he heard the remark, and jokingly retorted, "Typical woman, coming in here and taking a man's mango and berries away." Maybe that sounded better before he said it aloud.

He shrugged, and reworded what Jordan had said earlier, in a joking tone, "I'm beginning to wonder if you might be the one going all crazy psycho on me."

After a moment he continued, "So, you feel like literally hitting the sack now?" he motioned toward the bags, attempting a corny joke. "Or shall we continue the foreplay." It probably wasn't the best thing to say, but it couldn't hurt. If she showed signs of being offended, he could always move to the floor. (And win.) If she was into the slightly implied idea, he'd find a way to roll with it.
