Current mood: working

WHO: Lucas and [OPEN]
WHAT: Lucas' first shift at the bar
WHEN: Sunday evening
WHERE: BLU nightclub
RATING: G (may change, depends on what happens)
STATUS: Open to anybody interested :)

Bartending was one of the things that seemed to be the same all over so it was a pretty safe choice as far as careers went, especially when you could just pick up your talents and move over into another town or even country depending on how far you wanted to go.

Lucas learned this pretty early on and honed his natural hand to eye co-ordination to better assist his ability behind the bar, turning on the charm to increase the size of his tips and maintaining a pretty approachable air to encourage people to spend their money and get utterly trashed.

Of course adjusting to a new place and a new bar was the real test of any good bartender, especially when the crash course started a mere hour before the club opened and suddenly the more experienced of staff were swept away in the flood. You either sank or swam and Lucas wasn’t big on sinking, especially when it meant drowning.

Lucas reacted to the shift relatively smoothly, remembering orders for drinks easily enough, turning them out at a speed that meant he could have held his own had he been in a drink-making competition with the Flash himself. It was by the first hour that he’d already mapped the bar out in his head and by the second he was already exchanging easy casual conversation with a few of the regulars, making remarks based solely off his observations of them.

So far so good.

Hopefully tonight was going to be a good night, a nice smooth first night, but whatever happened Lucas was just glad to be working again and keeping busy. Being busy was exactly how he needed to be, kept him from thinking too much or getting too restless. Restless brought trouble and trouble was never fun, except if it involved some crazy activity.

“Round of shots,” he murmured as he lined up glass after glass. “Just as you ordered.”

Erin had made it her new years resolution to get out more, meet new people and learn to trust herself. Thanks to the teachings of Tress, and now her replacement Ryan she was doing a lot better with controlling the wolf inside, she hadn't trashed her house for the past few moons though, she had made her basement a fully tricked out wolf zone she would lock herself up in during the moons -just in case-

So, in an attempt to actually keep her resolution for a change Erin made her way over to BLU where she heard the young people liked to hang out these days. After being hit on by skeevy bouncers and let inside she instantly regretted this decision, the place was packed, and Erin never had done crowds of people well. However, she pressed on making her way to the bar and taking a seat deciding that alcohol may help ease the uncomfortableness of the situation.

"Jack and coke please...on the rocks." she spoke, barely looking up

Much like Erin, Lucas was still learning how to control himself. Especially as he really hadn't had a teacher to guide him on the "right" path and more often than not his animal urges kicked in when he least wanted them to and nine times out of ten he found himself arrested for disturbing the peace. Thankfully so far so good in this new town.

He really needed to get himself a list of the full moons, see if he couldn't take appropriate steps to make sure he didn't hurt anybody.

The bar was buzzing and Lucas was in his element, flitting from person to person with a smile that could have turned hearts of stone into something resembling gold and exchanging flirtatious jabs with a few people littered around the bar, chuckling and just enjoying the simplicity of it all.

It was only when the somewhat quiet voice made an order for a drink that his attention shifted, light eyes falling on a brunette who looked distinctly out of place. The tension in her shoulders was as vivid a sign as was the avoiding of eye contact. "One jack and coke coming right up," he murmured, voice gruffer than normal as he had been behind the bar a couple hours now and talking always made your throat dry. It was one of the reasons he always kept a bottle of water to hand. Never alcohol, always water. He was always in better control of himself when he was sober and he was working, it would be highly unprofessional to get drunk on his boss' time and money.

He plucked out a glass and made short work of pouring the drink, placing it down in front of the brunette before quoting the price, one of the many he was still trying to learn.

Erin was glancing around the bar still trying to get her bearings when she realized she was being rude to the bartender, not really the best way to get out there and make friends. She cleared her throat and turned her attention to the man, the wolf in her instantly pointing out the fact that he was incredibly attractive and that it wanted to pounce him, old Erin may not have denied it of this but new controlled Erin simply acknowledged it and moved on.

"Sorry, where are my manors...." she reached into her pocket and retrieved her wallet, pulling out a few more bills than necessary she placed them on the bar in front of her. "I'm Erin..."

She felt a little awkward, were you supposed to introduce yourself to bartenders? Back home whenever she went into a bar she didn't have to introduce herself to anyone, because of who her father was everyone there knew her, and knew enough to stay away. Lately she had been hearing things around town here, rumors being spread through the town that she was an angry violent werewolf which, she could deal with she had brought it on herself when she lost control and hurt Nick, the guilt from that would haunt her forever.

Lucas' eyebrow lifted and he offered her a slanted smile. "Don't worry about it, you look like you've got a lot on your mind." He was more observant than most gave him credit for and this was a talent he put to good use: in work and out of work.

"Lucas," he offered as he held out a hand with long tapered fingers and a plethora of leather wrapping the wrist itself. "Wait," he said after a moment. "Erin, from the journals? I think I'm supposed to be living in one of your spare rooms at some point." Maybe the moving in thing wouldn't be so bad as she wasn't that hard on the eyes, far from it.

What? A guy could look.

He picked up the bills and counted them out, noting the overpayment and he held the bill in question up between two fingers. "Did you mean to pay this much?" His lips twitched and his eyes glinted at the precise moment a strobe light hit the dance floor.

"I usually do..." she murmered in reply, sipping her drink and enjoying the slight rush from the alcohol. She wasn't a huge drinker, mainly because she was afraid of the lack of control that seemed to take over when alcohol was involved and control was something she needed to have at all times or she'd risk another incident like the one she had with Nick.

She shook his hand, and realized at the same moment who he was. She smiled warmly and nodded. "Yeah that's me, nice to meet you in person. Room is still yours if you want it, it's just me in a big empty house by myself, I could use the company." She said, adding in her head that she could especially use company as good looking as him around.

She smiled again when he asked her about the bills and nodded. "Yep, you are in luck, as well as being an easy going land lord I am also a very good tipper." Money was not an object for her, between her law practice and her family money she was set for life and then some. She wasn't big on throwing it around in huge gestures but a little went a long way when it came to services like these. Plus, bartenders, waitresses and the like usually didn't have money like she did and she didn't mind sharing if they were polite and didn't treat her like crap.

"I wouldn't be any kind of bartender if I didn't at least offer an ear," Lucas remarked with a smirk, turning his head when his more than sensitive hearing picked up on a slightly raised call for "tender!" and he excused himself for a moment.

Lucas exchanged the notes he was given for a round of exceedingly colourful shots with various mixtures of alcohol mixed in, falling back on some considerable years spent bar-tending to determine the right mixture and amounts. Once he was sure those customers were taken care of he returned to Erin, offering her a smile. "I definitely still want and need a room, especially as I plan on hanging around a while." He paused for a moment, wondering if she had any idea of what he was and whilst she seemed kind enough now what happened when she found out he turned into a wolf every full moon?

Figuring he wouldn't get anywhere by lying to his would be landlady Lucas crossed his arms on the bar and leaned down, causing the muscles in his upper arms to tense. "Just a fyi, I'm a Were so I'll probably be real antisocial closer to the full moon. Figured I should get that out there as I've learned that lying about it gets me nowhere." His eyes glinted in the strange lighting and his lips twitched in the corner. "Last chance to get out of offering me a place to live."
