Blank Pages (x2)
Title: page.48 god
Claim: Death Note
Rating: PG
Warnings: SPOILER for episode 25/chapter 58.
Prompt: 1.48 (Writer's choice)
Notes: Inspired by the prologue of Another Note, but does not have any spoilers for it.
page.48 god
Mello didn’t believe in God, but there was someone he worshipped.
L.
He worshipped everything from L’s bare feet to every messy strand of hair on his head. He worshipped L’s tastes in food, which was how he discovered how much he loved chocolate. Most importantly, he worshipped L’s mind, the mind that had solved so many cases, the smart mind that had put so many horrible people behind bars. He didn’t think his own mind could measure up to L’s, not at all, but he did think he was smarter than Near.
Mello worshipped L. To him, he was an idol – a god.
When L died, Mello learned even gods could die.
He decided then, even as he was saying out loud that it couldn’t be true, that he would make sure Kira paid for this.
If Mello couldn’t finish it himself, he knew Near would make sure Kira would die.
Because even though people called Kira a god, Mello knew the truth: even a god can die.
He intended to prove it.
Title: page.2 cold
Claim: Death Note
Rating: PG
Warnings: Odd questions? XD
Prompt: 1.2 (Cold)
Author's note: Inspired by a table in How to Read 13 in which Ryuk analyzes the contents of L's stomach - aka, what he eats, and how much of it.
page.2 cold
L didn’t really mind if his coffee was hot or cold. He had much more important things to worry about (like, say, the Kira case) than whether his coffee or tea had been warmed or not. Watari knew this, and was always ready with a new cup when L signaled that he didn’t want to continue drinking this one.
What he did mind, though, was the temperature in the room. L hated wearing socks and never did, but because of this his feet were always very cold. He knew the police officers, in their stifling suits, hated to come to the warm office during the summer, but they came to appreciate it as fall neared.
One day, soon after Higuchi’s death, he looked over and noticed Light was wearing both shoes and socks. “Light-kun.”
Light didn’t look up from the list of the most recently killed criminals. “What, Ryuuzaki?”
“Do you ever get cold feet?”
The odd question gave Light pause. He wondered if the question was meant allegorically, or perhaps as a jab at Kira’s — at his — abilities. “What do you mean, Ryuuzaki?” he asked carefully.
“It isn’t a difficult question,” L answered, curious at Light’s guarded response (and automatically connecting it to the conclusion that Light and Kira were one and the same). “I was referring to the temperature. Do you ever get cold feet?”
“I... No. No, I do not get cold feet.” Light mentally berated himself for thinking into it too deeply.
“Not even when your socks are off?”
“Not really.”
“Why?”
Light gave L an odd look. “Why do you ask?”
“Why are you questioning why I am asking?”
“Why are you pressing it?”
“Why are you ignoring the question?”
“Ryuuzaki... why are we talking about socks?!”
“We’re not talking about socks; we’re talking about the Kira investigation.”
“Huh?”
“Never mind. Pass the sugar.”
