Welcome to fandomdirectory!

This directory is supposed to function as a searchable database, so you can quickly find the asylums you need, with just a few clicks. Each asylum gets a short profile entry, tags, and is added to the appropriate categories in the asylum memories.

You can browse them by fandom and type of content. In some cases there'll be additional keywords, e.g. pairings, characters, challenge/fic types, or maintainers (the latter mostly as a reference for myself).

A complete list of asylums that have been added so far can be found here. Check it first before suggesting an asylum!

If you know of a fandom-related asylum or journal that isn't listed yet, leave a comment on this entry. Please read the guidelines stated in that post (there aren't that many).

The sidebar of the asylum also contains links to several entries that could be useful, e.g. fandom-related feeds, LiveJournal mirrors, an index of rec asylums/journals, or non-fandom asylums about writing and original fiction. Most of them are located at the

fdir_editor journal.

As for RPGs, those have their own infrastructure on InsaneJournal. I only list indexes and other general RPG-related asylums that might help RPers find their way on IJ, not the RPGs themselves. Their memory category is here.

I usually update in batches of three or more entries. If that's too "spammy" for your friendslist, no problem - you can just join the asylum without putting it on your reading list, and check back later.
