Pattern and Blog Rec's

What are your favorite knitting blogs? come share them!

Romancing the Yarn is written by a group of authors who share a love of knitting. They can be found on blogspot when that site is working properly. :p

Devon Monk is a paranormal author who also comes up with knitting patterns she shares at her journal page on el-jay. I like her Cuthulu soap cozy which is in the bottom row of her knitting gallery.

Bunny Nuggets It's a knit gargoyle. I'm book marking this one to make

Alan Dart is a designer of knit toy patterns. He is a genius. His Haitian Ada is a free download for knitters to make up and sell for charity.

Snupin Dolls

I made a pair of dolls for [info]severusbigbang. Photos of them can be found here

The boys are an adaptation of an Alan Dart Pattern. When I saw his Barnacle Bill in Simply Knitting last year, I thought the frock coat would be ideal for a Snape doll. Each doll was made with worsted instead of dk weight yarn. I used U.S. size 8 needles and there is around/over 40 hours of work in each one. Part of the amount of time came from me deciding what things to change if any, and playing around with various looks for the faces.

So, who else has been doing fannish knitting?

searching for assistance

Cross posted at [info]stitchnbitch
I have this idea of making a doll or three. I need opinions on flesh tones for Severus and for Aurora Sinistra. I've always thought of Sinistra as looking like my icon. Those who are interested in helping out, give me recommendations of yarn colors using cascade 220, caron yarns, Bernat yarn or Berroco yarn.
I'm limiting the yarn types to ones that I either have on hand, or can easily find in my area.

Doctor Who Scarf (FO)

Finished on New Years Eve Day, it took me two weeks to get the fringe on. But a cold snap was motivation enough to get it done (seriously, we’re hitting record lows from 5 years ago according to the news reports…) not to mention my stash being out of control and the need to churn out some FOs before classes start again…

I'm slow on finding cool stuff. Hubby sent me the link to this image yesterday. I did a google search for a pattern and discovered people have been knitting Hellboy for a few years now.

here is a series of detailed photos of this commissioned bit of knitting. Hats off to the creator. I like the details she included on him.
