Oh Harper, you dickwad, you totally brought this on yourself. I could not believe that he ever thought he could get away with cutting funding to the political parties with no reaction from the opposition.
I can see a lot of ways that this coalition won't work (and god, if they fuck it up, the Conservatives will have pretty much a free ride next election) but I'm so glad that the opposition has stepped up.
Harper has been bullying the house to get his way using confidence motions to tie the hands of the opposition for far too long. It drove me nuts that the opposition wouldn't step up, I was really afraid that they wouldn't step up now because they know no one wants an election right now, but I'm glad they didn't just lie down.
I've hated Harper since he was the Leader of the Opposition against Paul Martin's Liberal government when he spent his entire time actively trying (and talking about nothing else) to "overthrow the government". Harper is an egotistical man who feels that his opinions are that are all the people of Canada, regardless of the fact that he's never won a majority government, and really, the only reason why he remained PM this election was because there wasn't enough trust in Dion. He does not compromise and he does not acknowledge other people's opinions. And I'm glad that the rest of the parties of Canada were willing to compromise to ensure a chance that what Canadians really want gets done.
Dion still needs to prove himself to me, but I'm hoping that Layton and Duceppe will help keep him in line and that the three of them will provide a united enough front to do what's best for Canada and it's people.

There's a new idea for a lims over at LJ. So far there are only 3 participants and the first challenge gets posted next Monday.

Just added approx. 68 feeds to the Fannish IJ Feeds List on fdir_editor. Go me. Am I updating too much? Too randomly? Gah, I hate journal insecurity. Didn't have it for a while, but apparently it comes in waves.

Falls überhaupt jemand mein Gemotze über kürzlich verlorene eBay-Schlachten lesen will, kann man das hier tun. Dingsi steht so ein bißchen neben sich, gell. (Und kann mal wieder nicht schlafen, naja.)

| Alles Was Zählt and my weekend |

So, as I mentioned in my last post, I haven't been having as much online time lately and it means I haven't been able to read my flist as much. It makes me sad when I fall behind, so I just created a new filter for my LJ (IJ people can ignore this) that just has people on it (no comms). I don't think I've missed anyone, but if you can't see this post, please let me know so I can add you to that filter.
In other news. lilithilien has got me watching a new show. I can't really believe it, but it's a soap opera. A German soap opera at that called Alles Was Zählt. She actually started helping the translate and sub the storyline of Deniz and Roman, but needed help with some of the vidding aspects. I ended up spending last Friday over at her apartment showing her how to use Adobe Premier and she'd show me pictures of cute boys kissing, and I'm pretty sure I was lost then. It's actually pretty good, and most of the time I can even forget it's a soap opera (it's just when a new character shows up and you get the whole "Oh Sarah! When did you get back from South America? I thought you were hiding there from your crazy ex-boyfriend after he made you miscarry your triplets then ran away with you long lost twin sister" type lines that you remember :P). If anyone is interested in checking it out, you can find lilithilien YouTube group here. And just to give you a little taste of the pretty boys in action:
To thank me for helping her with the vidding stuff, lilithilien took me out for dinner on Thursday night and we had a blast. You know, I grew up in a pretty prudish house hold but being in fandom has really gotten me to lose a lot of that. I mean, the stuff we talk about here, at great lengths no less, kind of normalizes things, especially pertaining to sex. So it was kind of funny when, in a crowded restaurant, started talking about porn. I haven't really had many of these conversations out loud, or in public places, so it was amusing to watch the guy at the table sometimes stop his conversation as he listened into ours. :P
So, I came to the conclusion today, that if I'm going to ramble, it's really best if I do it online in writing rather than verbally. celtic_tigress is doing project on fandom for her English Honours program and had posted to some comms asking if she could interview people in fandom. I said sure, so today she called me and we (well, mostly me) talked for a while. She said she got what she needed from me, but I kept forgetting what the original question was halfway through my answer. I really have to get my rambling under control. Anyways, it was fun to do, and she'll be posting the interviews soon. It'll be interesting to hear what other people had to say.

I'm okay. There's just too much happening at once.
Thought I should say that I'm okay because in one of my previous entries I wasn't.
I don't even -- it's so frustrating when you feel like you've forgotten how to put thoughts on paper. (Not really forgotten, there's just too much going on in my brain, but the result is the same.)
Uh... talk to you later?

I met littleblackbow via holiday_wishes, and she has been incredibly friendly and generous to me. I'd like to give something back if I can. She's in a tight spot financially and trying to raise money by auctioning off lots of yaoi manga / doujinshi and her own watercolor art. You can also donate via PayPal (which is what I'm gonna do). If you think you might like some of the things she has up for sale, take a look at this post. If lots of people give just a little, it can add up nicely, right?

It's been a long time since I've pimped for euphorialane. I've gone back to JUST moderating that game, which is much goodness, because uh, moderating TWO HUGE games was really draining me. I wasn't doing ANY logging or RPing, and I couldn't even find the energy to bother updating my characters. So now that I'm back and just maintaining the ONE game, I'm here to pimp!
Firstly, we're in desperate need of Slytherins. I know that Terence Higgs, Georgina Bloxam, Miles Bletchley, Melinda Bobbin, Thomas Vaisey, Daphne Greengrass, Theodore Nott, Graham Pritchard, Adrian Pucey, and Ian Urquhart could use some loving. We're particularly in need of: PANSY PARKINSON, Draco Malfoy, Astoria Greengrass, Warrington, Montague, Millicent Bulstrode, Blaise Zabini, and Malcolm Baddock. There's room for you at the inn!
Secondly, I want to pick up my Fleur again, and I have a potential Gabrielle, so what I would need is a good Bill Weasley. The last PB was James D'arcy and I'd make icons of him with red hair. There's a serious lack of awesome Bill PBs out there. My Fleur isn't an ice queen with him, not in the least. And not to the people she loves either. And I'd be playing her as having all of her children, so no pregnancy plot. She's also something of an adventurist, considering she wanted to be in the Tri Wizard Tournament, I thought it gave her a bit of an edge.
Thirdly, we could definitely use more Ravenclaw boys. Our Stephen Cornfoot is LONELY without some males around. Terry Boot, Kevin Entwhistle, Anthony Goldstein, Michael Corner... you're all wanted! We could also use a Morag Macdougal (and you wouldn't have to keep the old one's history either).
Fourthly, we could use some more WEASLEYS. We've got Ron, George, Ginny, but we definitely need a Percy, Charlie, Bill (see the second point!) and potentially a Fred.
Fourthly, we could use some people who work in the PUBLISHING industry. We have a Seamus Finnigan who would love to have an agent there!
Aaaaaand finally, LUNA LOVEGOOD. PLEASE? WE LOVE YOU. And YOU are Roger Davies' boggart, if that's not incentive enough!

So...I just received an email. Does anybody on my f-list need a home for their Andromeda Tonks?
blurred_lines has a Ted (who I play, actually!) and a six-year old Dora who would just love to have her around, as would Sirius and most of the Order, to be honest, and I'd be totally willing to work up history and plots and the like if anybody here were interested. Personally, I'd like to explore more of Ted's home life with his family, and a handful of other characters have plotty-type things that we can offer an Andromeda- the game is plenty active (and since most of my flist is at BL or knows of it, most of you probably know this) and there is a lot of opportunity for Andromeda to get involved.
If any of you are interested, or know anybody who might be- would you point them my way, please?
I suppose while I'm pimping, I'd like to say that Dorian would like to have some more vampires, and Persephone would love love love to have either of her brothers- Stewart Greengrass or Bradford Greengrass. Daphne needs to be born soon, after all!

You can do it at this URL: http://www.livejournal.com/misc/whereami.bml (when you're logged in).
I'm on "Bratwurst".
...
...
. . .
No, really. Bratwurst.
(One of my original characters just piped up with "Hey, at least it's phallic!" - Yeah, thanks so much.)
Come on, tell me your cluster names. I know I'm totally LJ-averse usually, but in this case I'll make an exception. And please, I don't want to be the only Bratwurst around.

Thanks so much to everyone who left comments in my last post. Although I will say one thing, normally I love gmail, but all the ads for cat grooming, cat toys, etc. wasn't all that helpful. Still. I was really missing her last night when I went to sleep, we normally sleep together, she'll sometimes curl up in my arms so I raided my sister's room for a stuffed animal to sleep with. I've never been a stuffed animal person, even when I was a kid, but I thought it might help. Anyways, it was kind of dark and I just went for shape but it turns out that the stuffed animal I grabbed? Was a Tigger. It took me a second to realize it since Tigger for the past 4 years has been my cat, not a Winnie the Pooh character. I'm not sure if that just made me sadder or brought comfort, but he's still in my bed, so.

The atrocities you find when you browse for music videos. I was thinking about the music-related questions here, and I went, "hey, I could list the top five embarassing favourite songs I used to have!" And, well. There's only so many remixes of F. R. David's "Words" that the human mind can take.
Also, some vidders (I hope I'm not insulting the fanvid makers out there by using that term) have a tendency to combine love songs with really terrible photographs of a man and a woman rolling around on a beach, the woman has always long flowy hair and the man always wears blue jeans and they gaze longingly into each others' eyes and he lifts his fingers to her lips and, like, they are so overcome with true burning desire, they are downright paralyzed! (NO SWEATY MONKEY SEX FOR YOU, JUST GAZING!) Hundreds of teenagers used to have posters like these on their walls in the 80s, usually squeezed in between the posters of airbrushed dolphins and the dangerous but lost and forlorn biker dude cradling a kitten. There was a big poster/cards company that used to make money with that kind of kitsch, I still remember how we used to order in groups at school so we could get the discount, hours were spent on calculating the end price for everybody. I wish I remembered the name. Photographica, maybe? Halp! This is a puzzle piece of my childhood, help me identify it!
Also, everybody in the 80s had a saxophone in their music videos. Saxophone players were the really cool shit. I'm fairly certain that, when the 90s rolled in, they had to kill off hundreds, nay thousands of saxophonists because they didn't know what to do with them.
And, dude, Gary Kemp is so ridiculously overacting in "True", it's almost funny.
Egads, I think I'm done with searching for today. The things I've seen... *shudders*
P.S.: I feel like closing this post with "David Sylvian does not approve of this pop shit". I guess I need a new icon. Other people who would make great disapprovalists: Peter Murphy, Andrew Eldritch, Grace Jones, Keith Flint, Nick Cave, Diamanda Galas, Blixa Bargeld, Hanin Elias, and Morrissey.
P.P.S.: DON'T THINK I'LL LET YOU OFF THE HOOK, I'M GOING TO SHARE AS PROMISED THREATENED.

I just came back from the vets. Without Tigger. Ever since we found out that she had a tumour I knew this day was going to come but I really didn't expect it to be this soon. I think I expected her to get sick before but she wasn't, she was still herself. The thing is, the tumour was on her jaw and it just got so big that it pushed her tongue out of her mouth and she was having trouble eating, and wasn't able to drink at all. When we saw that she was just face planting in the water because she couldn't drink normally we called the vet. The were actually booked solid all day, but stayed open late so they could take care of her. We fed her water with a syringe in the mean time. The Dr. we took her to was just amazing. ( Cut for those who don't want details. )
Surprisingly, I think it's my mom who's taking this hardest (she hates cats but still managed to fall in love with Tigger). My little sister was really upset too. She's away at university but is coming home next weekend, she was hoping Tigger could hold out until then, but no such luck.
I'm ok, I'm sad and I'm really going to miss her but I'm ok. I may have possibly overestimated how OK I am. I really really miss her at the moment.
