Who: Matt and Jo
Where: Her room

What: Matt worked late and had to cancel his plans with Jo, he's gonna crawl in her window and make up for it.
Matt was going to join Jo and her parents for dinner and then take Jo and his brother and sister to see some movie about dog sledding (which would no doubt have had everyone crying anyway), but he'd ended up having to work late while his boss went to tend to his wife having a baby. He had already gone home to make amends to his brother and sister and promised them the movie the next day right after school, and now he was on his way to tell Jo he was sorry for the fiftieth time.
For the most part he just really wanted to see her, and even though he was sure that her Daddy would have his neck if he ever caught him sneaking in her window, it had been quite a handful of years, and he hadn't busted them yet. Definitely something to be proud of.
Even though parking at the bar at this hour wouldn't have been a problem, and no one would have noticed his truck there right off the bat, if he stayed past closing, their cover would definitely be blown. Besides, the dudes in there always looked at him like he was missing the punchline of some joke.
So he parked around the corner and walked behind the Roadhouse to where their living area was. He looked in Jo's window and saw her sitting on her bed reading a school book, and looking none too thrilled about it, and he grinned as he opened the window and poked his head in, "Hey stranger," he said as he smiled widely at her and climbed in. |
