Entry tags:anthony wong, mark devereux

Who: TonyN'Mark
What: Time for a Serious Talk to clear up some mistunderstandings
When: Sometime following their recent journal conversations(Almost a week after their date)
Where: Room 347
Rating: TBD, probably low
Status: Incomplete; Closed

Mark huffed and ran a hand through his hair as he stared at the door. He knew what had to happen once he opened it. He and Tony couldn't put this off anymore. Well, Tony probably could; Tony probably would. But Mark couldn't. They had to talk.

He probably should have figured this would happen. He'd known clearly, after all, that Tony hadn't given him an actual answer to the question he'd asked on their date. He'd known that Tony still had major reservations about the whole being with a guy thing. But then, considering how actively agressive and vocal Ton had been about it in the past, Mark figured that silence was as good as any "yes" he was going to get.

Clearly, Tony had figured otherwise. And it was time to set the record straight.

Mark pulled open the door. "So, we need to talk," he announced.

Tony look up in surprise, losing his grip on his English notebook. He watched in dismay as all pages bent. He looked from the mess that were his notes to Mark who was looking ridiculously determined and let out a heartfelt groan.

He didn't want to do this. Not now. Well alright. Not ever but who was looking at technicalities?

He knew he couldn't keep putting Mark off forever, Mark's head would probably explode but Tony really didn't think his notes had to be sacrificed in the process. His color-coded, organized notes. Tony was inordinately attached to them.

"About?" he asked innocently, like he didn't know.

Rolling his eyes, Mark leaned over to pick up a pile of Tony's precious, disturbingly well-kept English notes. He attempted to straighten them out before dropping them back into Tony's hands and plopping himself on the bed beside him. "Don't be an idiot. You know what about."

Tony gave a long sigh. It had been too much to ask really that this not be about what he thought it was about. Or something like that. Tony was sure that, that wasn't a proper sentence but he didn't want to spend time puzzling out his own thoughts. They were supposed to make sense. And when they stopped doing so, Tony knew he had a problem.

Tony set his messy notes on the table before turning to face Mark. he would have to go through them later and organize them. But he was sure Mark would not appreciate him doing that now.

He looked at Mark questioningly.

He didn't want to do this. So he sure as hell wasn't going to start.

Mark met the expectant look Tony was giving him with one that he hoped looked more confident than he was feeling. He'd known he would have to start the conversation to get anything said, so he wasn't totally unprepared. But now it seemed he was coming down with slight stage fright.

"So. Looks like we have something to clear up," he began, and wondered if he'd have to say more before Tony would respond. Maybe this would be a lot easier if he put as much of it out there as he could as fast as possible. "I asked you on our date what we were. Apparently the answer got lost in translation."

Tony had known that the innocent act would not worked. But he had hoped. Anything to get himself out of this conversation. Because he really really didn't want to have this talk. He had been avoiding thinking about the implications of the date all week. And now Mark was forcing him.

Tony would have resented him, if he didn't already know that they needed to do this.

"That would be true if there anything to get lost in translation. I don't remember answering the question. You assumed," Tony pointed out logically.

Mark had sort of figured Tony would bring that up. And really, he had a point. But it hadn't made Mark any less certain that night, and it wouldn't make him any less certain now. "You didn't say no."
