Characters: Eleanor Hall and Matthias Eklund Setting: Outside the market in Greenville Rating: PG Summary: A chance encounter
As far as Ellie was concerned, they couldn't have reached Greenville at a better time. They had been traveling for three days, and she'd begun to wonder if they would ever reach the castle. She loved horse riding, but her escort had insisted on keeping her inside the carriage, as befitted someone of her stature. It meant little to her. They'd left the manor right after Lady Constance's funeral. She wanted her privacy, but she wished they'd let her enjoy the fresh air of a ride.
As soon as they'd come into Greenville, she insisted on talking a walk. She left the carriage at the castle gates, charging her escort with seeing her things situated. She would be along soon enough, but right now, Ellie wanted her space, and she wanted to familiarize herself with the town that would be her new home. She followed the road, gazing at the buildings as she passed. It wasn't that dissimilar from Harrington, where the manor had been.
The sound of crowds grew as she headed for what she assumed would be the market. Ellie stopped briefly, making sure her bonnet was situated properly. It would not do to make a bad impression on her face day in a new place.
