Rena's words about Bridget were surprisingly reassuring, and Thomas smiled to know that she, at least, seemed to think that he'd done well by his daughter. His smile faded, however, when Rena questioned him. Thomas considered her words for a moment, his voice tentative when he spoke. "I think that a family being together, regardless of the circumstances, is always for the best." It was naive, perhaps. "I have no doubt that Madame Besoir has changed Abby- she is more skittish, hesitant, doubtful of herself and of me than I remember. But that doesn't change my feelings, Rena- I meant it when I told you last night that she is the love of my life. Whatever these last ten years have been, she still loves me, and I can't ignore that or pass that by because of what she was forced to do. If I turn my back on her now, I'll just be validating the ten years of lies she's been told."
