Rena blinked at the curtsy from first Abigail and then Bridget, the gesture unexpected and eerily reminiscent of the past she was so eager to forget. Still, it was an innocent gesture, she was sure, so she waved it off. "No need to curtsy," she admonished with a slight chuckle. "The market is no place for such formalities!" She hoped it was simple politeness that had elicited such a response because as far as she could see, Abigail was just another shopper in town.
"You work at the tea shop with Gabrielle?" she inquired with a smile. "How lovely! I have heard the patrons mentioning new help but I hadn't realized it was you!" The puzzle pieces still didn't quite fit, not entirely, but at least now Rena could place her in some way. Still, some instinct told her not to mention their last meeting in front of Bridget, particularly since Abigail had mentioned parting on not-so-friendly terms with Thomas. Truly, it wouldn't do to bring a child into that, particularly since it wasn't any of her business.
Instead, Rena would just be pleasant and, perhaps, attentive to any sort of information she might gather. "I hadn't realized you two were acquainted but I shouldn't be surprised; Bridget knows everyone in town," she smiled affectionately.
