The man looked harmless enough and had the decency to show he had no intention on hurting her - Which was well for him, because Bess wasn't the type to give up without a fight. Either way, she was taken off guard. The place she had wandered off to seemed like a secluded one, but somehow he had found it as well. So she tread the water for a moment, contemplating on what to do. Thank the gods she wasn't naked - Her cheeks would certainly be more colored than they were now. Nevertheless, she was soaked to the bone and this wasn't exactly the ideal way for the new apprentice healer (maybe even full-time physician, she thought sadly, if Cai wasn't well soon) to get acquainted with the residents of the town.
"I'm Bess. Bess Guidon." Bess said, supposing that giving him her name was the most logical way to reply. Her cheeks were still a little flushed as she swam towards shore, avoiding his gaze at least until she was fully out of the water. Bess probably looked to be the least intimidating thing on Earth - She was quite small, but what she lacked in height she made up in intelligence. She gave him a slight smile and wrung her dark hair, the water dripping from every inch of her. "I apologize.." She began, not knowing quite what she was apologizing for. He didn't seem like a strict lordly type, so at least he wouldn't scold her for being unladylike. "It was much too warm out to avoid the temptation." Bess added, squeezing the ends of her tunic so the water trickled down. "I'm the apprentice healer in town - I don't think we've met."
