Even if she had the presence of mind to flee from an unfamiliar man, Penny didn't have the strength after her unusually wild ride to do much more than look up from her dog to see who had addressed her.
She didn't expect to recognize whoever it was that had found her and, indeed, she hadn't any idea who it was that had addressed her, but for possibly the first time in her young adult life, Penny was still too shaken up to even consider the fact that she was slightly disheveled from her journey. Under normal circumstances, she'd have been overly concerned over the state of her hair and dress but that hadn't yet crossed her mind.
"Y-yes," Penny managed to stammer unconvincingly, steadying herself by keeping a hand on her dog. She swallowed, trying to find words to express herself. "My horse shied in the woods and took off." Her voice sounded smaller than she expected; she was certainly shaken.
