Who: Penny and Gareth What: Penny takes an unexpected detour Where: Greenville, out and about in town When: Afternoon Rating: tame, at the moment Status: Incomplete
Penny wasn't generally the sort to have "adventures". In fact, she tended to leave those to her twin, who was much better suited for them in her opinion. Still, when the weather was nice, Penny would sometimes take a gentle afternoon ride through the lands surrounding their home. It wasn't exactly something her mother would have approved of but generally speaking, her mother was too preoccupied with other things (particularly her brother) and it wasn't as though she was completely alone; Penny never went anywhere without her faithful canine companion. Lucky, she knew, would protect her from any danger, likely more capably than her brother. Besides, it wasn't as though she went far, generally circling the grounds of their home, giving both her mare and her dog an opportunity to stretch their legs as well as give her a bit of time to think.
She had taken the ride enough times that Penny really wasn't paying attention. Instead, her thoughts were turned inward and she was humming softly to herself when something in the trees spooked her mare. It was fortunate that Penny was a capable enough rider to cling on to the bolting horse as she tore away through the brush at full tilt. Too frightened to do anything else, Penny merely held on as the horse galloped away down a worn bridle path, egged on by the frantic barking of Lucky, who raced after them.
It wasn't until the trees gave way to farmland and then houses that the mare slowed enough for Penny to regain control of her. She was surprised to find herself trotting into the center of town. It wasn't as though Penny had never been to town before but truth be told, it was rare enough that she had any reason to and she had never been alone before. Still shaking from the frightening ride, she slid down to the ground to sooth her anxious dog and nearly lost her footing for the trembling in her legs. Still holding on to the reigns, Penny murmured shaky words to Lucky who, with tail wagging, sat himself down at her feet as she tried to calm herself.
