Summary: Era seeks out Emi for help
Status: Threaded, Incomplete
Era was in a bad mood. This winter had brought new experiences like cold and wet and hungry – all the time. It was miserable not having the comforts of her mother’s cave. She wanted to be home and wasn’t above whining over it. Only, there weren’t many she could go complaining to. And she had few enough friends that she restrained herself from chasing them off.
Instead, the dragon went winging through the forest, playing a dangerous game of chicken amongst the trees. Faster and faster she sped, looping up and around and through, dodging branches at a reckless pace.
It was almost as if she were trying to get hurt – which wasn’t her intent at all. She was just so caught in the extremes of adolescent emotional highs and lows that she couldn’t make herself care. Era was the several foot long embodiment of a temper-tantrum.
Anyone watching could have easily predicted the accident that came next. It was simple really. She miscalculated. With a tree-splitting thump, Era careened into the standing pine. “Ow! Ow! Ow,” the dragon cried, whimpering in pain. After a moment of lying on the ground listening to her heart beat slow, she took careful stock. Her wings, surprisingly, had escaped nearly unscathed. It was her side and front arm that had taken the worst of the impact. Ears still ringing, she phased into human. Weird. It still felt weird. And she likely wouldn’t be able to get back to normal on her own. But she couldn’t go marching into the village as a dragon.
She sniffed, the welled tears spilling over onto her cheeks as she made her way back to Emi. Hopefully, the other dragon wouldn’t mind patching her up.
As she walked, she held her arm tucked close to her body. She didn’t understand what the injury would mean to her human form, but she knew pain when she felt it. Sheepish, face still wet with tears, she finally found herself at Emi’s door.
