People were still in high spirits from the holidays. It seemed to Molly that they had been kept pretty busy at the pub. It was a good thing in principle, but it left the woman feeling all the more homesick. There would have been a lot of carousing and general merrymaking back home. She wondered how her parents were doing.
Their last letter had made her cry. It hadn't said anything particular to do so, but she missed them so much. Molly felt lost without them. Not to say she wasn't happy here; she was. But part of her heart would always be where her family was.
So when the warmth of the fire started making the room overly stuffy, Molly got another girl to cover her tables. It was time for a little break. She slipped out the door and stood outside in the cold. It was so beautiful tonight. She searched the skies for familiar stars and wondered if anyone she cared about was looking up at them right now too.
