Edric nodded in agreement. It made sense, he thought.
Although he had never been at sea, it did sound plausible that one would need a constant guide to lead the way. There were no footprints to follow, no trees or plants to use when one was in the middle of the vast sea. The only part he was not sure about was the part about stars being fixed upon the sky.
"How do you know that the star is always to the north? What if it falls out of the sky?"
Edric did not want to seem unknowledgeable, but it was a genuine question. He had never studied astrology, and thus had never learned about stars or meteors. This seemed like a good place to start, it might prove to be useful if he managed to get lost somehow at night.
