Shopping at Market
Who: Sol and Open
What: Shopping for Groceries
When: Friday morning
Where: Market
Rating: PG at most!
If there was something Sol couldn't do it was going to market. With a burlap sack at his hip and a confused look on his face he picked up a few apples and turned them over in his hands. How was one supposed to know which apples were good and which weren't? They looked to be edible. Tossing the farmer at the stand a few coins he shoved the fruit into his sack and continued on down the line. John had advised he make a list before going, just so he could avoid feeling overwhelmed, but alas. He'd forgotten.
Mumbling to himself he wondered why John couldn't do his own bloody shopping. Apples, a loaf of bread, goat's milk, and butter. That sounded about right. Moving down toward the bakers he dug one of the apples out and bit into it. Juicy! Perhaps he was at least good at picking out fruit. Speaking through a full mouth Sol asked the baker for a loaf of honey wheat bread. It smelled heavenly with all the rolls and loaves sitting around the booth and Sol was unsure if he'd make it back to the smithery with everything in tact.
Finally with milk and butter left to go he headed down to the end of the farmer's market and took another bite of his apple. Maneuvering through the crowd of bodies Sol apologized as he bumped his way around. He remembered the first market he'd gone to. It'd been a disaster. He had mistaken one of the men working for old man Hodgens for his brother and everything went to hell in a hand basket. Sol had blurted out Henry's name and shoved through women, children, anyone in the way to get to him only to find it wasn't Henry. A glimpse of what he so fervently wanted for his future shattered and he was forced to go back to John's empty-handed.
Literally bumping into someone in the present, Sol dropped what was left of his apple to catch his balance and reached out to steady the other person. "I'm so sorry, wasn't watching where I was going," he apologised and shook his head. Clumsy as usual.
