Edric's first reaction was to move backward when a scaly snout loomed close. He knew he should not show fear however, and decided against it. He remained rooted to the spot, trying his best to look unintimidated.
Taking a deep gulp of air, he leveled a stare at Era. He was feeling much braver now that he was--almost--sure that the dragon would not kill him.
"I'm just making sure. You're a dragon, people will expect you to kill people or burn down their houses. It's only natural that I ask, I have to consider the safety of my family and friends, even if I am no match for you."
It all came out in a breath, Edric was concerned, and it showed. He was waving his arms about, trying to emphasize his point. Then as an afterthought added, "I have never killed anyone and I do not intend to start now."
