Characters: Era and Penny
Setting: The River (open to interpretation at this point)
Summary: Era spends a morning inadvertently terrorizing the locals.
Status: Threaded, Incomplete
This morning, like the morning before and so many others before that, left Era wondering what to do with her day. That she would go flying was a given, but there was nothing beyond. It seemed traitorous, to long for more; but she did. Day passed after day in cruel repetition, the emptiness mocking her. Rather than sit and allow her thoughts to overwhelm her, Era took to the skies – beating wings racing to outstrip her thoughts.
Through a cloudless stretch of sky, the dragon wheeled and lunged, playing chase amid a myriad of imaginary companions. For a while a real bird did come to play and they chased up and down, but then the bird got weary and went away. Era did a couple of sweeps over the town just to see what the people were up to. But they did nothing new. They never did. They ran and shouted as humans do. It was hard to see how some of these creatures could have thought enough to put pen to paper. Some of her favorite authors had been human, but these ones seemed hardly capable of intelligent speech, much less artful rhetoric.
As the sun rose high, she found herself tired from her efforts. She was sore and thirsty but reluctant to land. Era lazed for a bit, allowing the thermals to bear her up a while. But she soon tired of even that. Finally alighting on the ground, Era stretched cat-like to drink from the river.
