The little thing seemed to be quite in a panic. Era wondered what had happened to it for it to have come to such a state. Such defenseless-looking creatures hardly ever wandered so far alone. The ones in the fields and forests, that she saw, where normally either accompanied or armed or both. It was reasonable to ask if it was alright, for surely it was in some kind of distress.
Era lowered her head close to the ground to see the human better, though she did not approach. She did not want to startle the small creature any further. Happily she noted that it could speak after all. This was a discovery! Maybe not quite the most eloquent of beginnings, but it would do. Slowly, trying to be as soothing as possible the dragon spoke. “I asked if you were alright. Though it may have been a foolish question as it seems obvious you are not.” Era had meant to be tactful, but her resolve crumbled to her curiosity. Pointedly she asked, “You are rather small to be out here on your own. Have you no companions? You’re so little. It can’t possibly be safe. You should be careful.”
