The question that Matt asked was a legitimate one, of course, but it gave Penny a pause. What had she expected? It was a difficult thing to consider and the bit her lip thoughtfully. "I... I don't really know what I expected," she admitted, tilting her head. "I was always kept to the company that my parents had selected for me and I suppose I never thought beyond that company. I came into town for the first time entirely by accident and I was scared because it was so different from anything I'd experienced before but at the same time, fascinating. I suppose I figured my parents had never taken me because it wasn't worth seeing or because there was some reason I needed to be protected from it but I don't want to be protected from it any longer," she explained with more passion than even she expected.
Her unexpected outburst brought a blush to her cheeks when she realized what she had said. "I... I don't mean to say they were wrong to protect me but... but I wish they had at least let me experience it, you know?" she added with wide eyes.
