"I think sometimes that you're the only one who likes him," Penny confessed with a shrug of her shoulders. "But he likes you, of course! I know Father doesn't mind him, though, I just don't think he understands why I'm so fond of him. Mother, of course, can't stand him. I know she's not used to the idea of a hunting dog as a pet but I do so hate it when she talks about him! He's far more well behaved than any lap dog I've ever met!" While Penny was generous with her mother, perhaps more than she should be, she never could quite forgive her mother's dislike of her beloved dog.
Penny blushed slightly at the idea of searching for her own husband, something she'd hardly feel bold enough to do. "Well, I believe we'll be attending some functions over the next few months and I know Mother was talking about having a winter ball. I shall keep my eyes open, I promise," she said sincerely, not realizing that she might be slightly misinterpreting Gen's words. As much as she approved of her sister's unconventional marriage, she still wasn't quite thinking outside the parameters she'd been raised in.
"I can't wait, truly!" Penny exclaimed, unable to help the infectious excitement of her twin. She expected it to be less elaborate than their own home but then, she knew that suited Gen. She knew the amount of work and love her sister had put into her new home. "I hope there is something I can help with. Maybe I can make you some curtains or a tablecloth, something. I would love to be a part of your own home!"
