Abby offered a smile as she took a seat beside Molly. She took a moment to cut the string into three pieces, then tied them together with a knot at one end. "This was how my mother taught me to braid," she admitted with a smile. "Once I knew how, I would practice on my sister as long as she would let me."
"So when you're braiding hair, you'll want to brush it out, like we just did with yours. Then you'll split it into three sections, like the three strings we have here. You'll hold it like this-" Abby took a moment to show Molly, then let Molly do the same, holding the string so she would have a feel of how it was supposed to be- "And it's usually easier to start with the section on the right. If you turn your hand and bring the section on the right over the section in the middle and make sure it's snug, you'll see now that the right one is now in the middle. Then you'll take the one on the left and cross it over the string that's now in the middle." Abby gently guided Molly's hands through the motions. "And you'll continue that until all of your hair or your string is braided!"
