Molly sat very still, not wanting to distract Abby from the braiding. It was hard not to let her thoughts wander over to her mother. Had she ever braided Molly's hair? Would she today, had she lived? She was glad her back was to Abby when her eyes started to swim.
She tried to cover her sniff but succeeded in pulling herself back together. "That's a good idea!" Her smile was bright. "String would be a good place to start. I don't want to ruin your hair."
