"I believe it will be fine," Rena assured her. "But you do have some time to prepare. I'm sure Thomas will be a big help, and any of the mothers that come into the pub. And, of course, I'd be happy to help you if there is anything I could help with." Her tone was soft, perhaps a bit tentative; Rena didn't want Abby to feel cornered by her offer; she really didn't want to step on her toes. While Abby had the experience of carrying a child and pregnancy, she had a bit more practice in the area of childcare. All the same, Rena had resolved not to get involved unless she was wanted; there had been enough tension and discomfort between them already.
