The time had come. Gabrielle was tired of waiting and feeling completely useless. She hadn't seen Vaan in some time; he had left to go to the castle and despite promises to write, she supposed he had been too busy for her. Or- well, there was always the chance that he had fallen ill as well, but Gabby didn't think that was possible. It was much more likely that the Wizard Elders learned of his feelings and were keeping him away from her. Gabby wouldn't lie and say that she was completely unaffected by this, but at the same time, she knew that any sort of relationship between wizard and human was nearly impossible.

What was worse was that she didn't have her brother to talk to. For so long, he was the only person she confided in. He was the only person she trusted enough. She had trusted Vaan, too, but Gabrielle had a feeling that if she hadn't seen him in the last few months, then she probably wouldn't see him again for a very long time. And so, Gabrielle knew that she had to do something. She didn't really know what she would do, but she needed to get away. She needed to find him herself. She had spent many of the last few weeks trying to formulate a plan; she had some idea of where they had gone to, and perhaps if she followed, she would learn of his whereabouts.

She had spoken with Abby about keeping an eye on the house and the tea shop; the shop would remain closed in her absence, though Abby had offered to run it in her absence. Gabby had declined- it wasn't that she didn't trust her, but Abby was expecting and had enough things to worry about! Everything else was pretty much set; her saddlebags were packed and she kept a knife in her boot, as well as her bow and arrows at her back.

Gabby took one last look about the house before she stepped outside. She found her horse, gently petting her muzzle; it was early afternoon and so they had a bit of a late start, but she didn't care. She just needed to get out of here. She needed to do something, to feel useful.

It might not work. She knew that. She might get lost, or might not come back. But it beat sitting around waiting all the time. Mounting her horse, she looked at her family home and gave a soft sigh. She would see it again. And if she had anything to do with it, so would her brother.
