Abby had barely made it outside before she was ill- a part of her worried that somehow she'd been poisoned or- well, who knew what it could be, really? She didn't think she was sick, unless it was a mild case of food poisoning, but then again, Zachary had never made a meal that made her ill, and nobody else seemed to be suffering from the same symptoms as she.

She slowly made her way to the well, pulling up a bucket so she could have a sip. She rinsed her mouth, then took a drink, turning to lean against the wall. This marked a week that she'd been ill, which seemed strange, because she felt just fine by the end of the day. She and Bridget had gone to the town festival more than once- Abby had truly enjoyed herself; she'd never been to such a spectacle and she was nearly as excited about everything as Bridget was, skipping from booth to booth, eating lots of sweets and generally having a good time.

She found herself suddenly ill again, and she'd barely had time to duck around a corner, just out of sight of any passers-by. She couldn't remember the last time she'd felt like this, except-

Well, she'd been sixteen then, hadn't she. Abby frowned slightly as she straightened, looking down to her hands on her stomach. She couldn't be- could she?

As she thought about it, the more sense it made. It had been- well, three months, at least, since she'd last- and the morning sickness, and the aches and- oh, could she do it again? What if it killed her this time?

She needed to tell Thomas. No, wait. First she needed to confirm it, to make sure that she was right before bringing up his hopes. He'd be happy- he had said as much not too long ago. He wanted a bigger family, just as much as she did. Abby wouldn't lie and say that the thought of it terrified her, but things were different now. Things were better. Things were going to be okay.

Tomorrow, she thought as she straightened from the wall. Tomorrow, she'd go to the healer and see what was what, and then she'd tell Thomas and Bridget and everything would be okay. It had to be.
