Who: Penny and Gabby What: Catching up! Where: Tea shop. When: Evening, around closing time. Rating: Low, ha. Status: Threaded, Incomplete
Last time Penny had been in town shopping for her sister's wedding, she had stopped by to see Gabby and they had made arrangements to have tea together, this time when the shop was closed so that they would have it entirely to themselves. Of course, escaping the family estate was a chancy thing, particularly when one had a specific time in mind. Penny was utterly terrified that her parents would summon her to supper, particularly since she had never slipped out quite as late in the day as this before, but she assured anyone who saw her bustling toward the stable that she was just going to get some air, wouldn't be long at all.
It was a relief when Penny and her mare were away from the manor proper and she breathed a sigh of relief as she urged Copper onward. The estate wasn't the same lately, not since Gen left. Penny had a hard time remembering how she had been satisfied confined within the walls; her journeys had given her a desire to see things, to interact with people. She missed her new friends and above all, she missed her sister's companionship. Penny was a twin and thus, she had never spent much of her life without a companion. Even though she and Gen had hardly spent every moment together, she couldn't think of a day when they hadn't spent time together, sharing stories or gossip or laughing over some ridiculous thing their mother had done or even wondering what new things their father would bring from his adventures. In short, Penny didn't know how to be her own person when her twin was not around and it was making her lonely.
Going to town to see Gabby was a relief, for certain. Gabby was her friend, a friend she had found on her own, and she was eager for the companionship, eager enough that she nearly cantered the entire way into Greenville, slowing only in more treacherous areas. It was good that it was summer, the summer sun lingering late into the evening, providing plenty of light to see by.
Penny managed to arrive just in time, just as the shop was closing for the evening. She slid down from Copper, patting the mare affectionately and fishing a carrot out of her pocket for her as she led her to the hitching post to secure her. That taken care of, she walked up to the tea shop, waving eagerly as her eyes landed on her friend.
