Genevieve had spent much of the morning inside, working on her lessons (wretched things, honestly- all the sewing and etiquette sorts of things that bored Gen to tears- honestly, how many manners were there, really?) and having tea with her mother and some woman who wouldn't shut up about her son. Gen suspected the two older women were concocting some sort of scheme, and she definitely didn't want to play into it. Thankfully, her eye had healed and she hadn't found too much hair missing from the top of her head when she got back home from her evening in Greenville. She wasn't sure how much of her story her mother actually believed, but she found that she didn't really care. She hadn't gotten into trouble (unless you called extra long lessons indoors trouble, which Gen certainly did), and nobody else- except Penny, of course- knew about her..indiscretion. Surprisingly enough, there had been little talk of the fight-- it seemed that nobody there actually knew who she was, and the story seemed a bit muddled by the time she had heard anything of it. If her parents knew anything, then they hadn't said anything to her. |
