Nick was a little surprised by the other vampire's admission. He had already mentioned not drinking blood, but Nick had dismissed that as a joke shortly thereafter. But he didn't appear to be joking now. Hal's false reassurance had only extended to him not having to kill - if he did his job as their solicitor, they'd continue to supply him with blood as they had been. But now he was being told that he didn't need it, and yet he wanted it with every fibre of his being. "Is it really that easy?" he asked sceptically.
That was a more complicated question than the other vampire probably intended. He'd taken to regretting not killing Rachel now. It would have haunted him, but so did this. At least he would have cared. Nick regretted crawling to Hal the moment he'd heard he was here. Hal. Nick laughed and shook his head. "Hal's not one to waste an investment." He would have given up on him by now if that had been the case. Out of context, that statement probably made little sense to the other vampire though. But if it was between Hal's will and his own, well, his own had received quite a blow. "Everyone has regrets," he answered finally and evasively. He wasn't about to share those.
