Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
WHO: Hannah and Ernie
WHAT: They catch their parents on a date
WHEN: Today at lunch time
WHERE: Just walking down the lane
RATING: LOL Hannah and Ernie?
PROGRESS: Incomplete

Ernie was a tad bit surprised at how fast most people seemed to fall back into their routines after something crazy happened. He assumed it had something to do with stability. After all even he was going on like nothing had happened. Normally on work days he'd just grab lunch and go back to the office, but today there didn't seem to be a lot that needed done so he decided to grab Hannah and go have some lunch.

He wasn't sure if she was actually working or not, but he made his way down to Green Expectations anyway. If she wasn't there, he could apologize to Neville to his face for all the insane and threatening behavior he'd shown toward him a few weeks ago.

Ernie actually lucked out in catching Hannah on her way out to lunch. After making sure that she had time to sit down and eat and that she wasn't just running out right quick the pair of friends made their way down the lane.

"What do you feel like eating?" He asked her, hoping that they could come to a decisive answer. After all, it wouldn't do them much good to spend their lunch break telling each other they didn't care where they went.

He kept a look out for other pedestrians as he made his way down the road, but it didn't stop him from causing a collision. He stopped dead in his tracks outside of an Italian place as something inside caught his eye. He felt someone run into him, and it jolted him out of his momentary shock. After a quick muttered sorry, he turned towards Hannah. "Oi, Han! Is that your dad?" He asked her as if she wasn't standing right next to him. It was a stupid question of course. He'd met Hannah's dad before. So of course it was him... at a table with Ernie's mother.

Hannah had been just about to suggest the Italian restaurant that Ernie was now looking into and her brow furrowed almost instantly at his question. Her father? Why would he be there? It wasn't that he didn't eat or anything like that, of course, but it had been ages since he had gone out for meals without herself or her brother - or so she thought. Perhaps she had been wrong about that. He had, after all, been doing all sorts of crazy things as of late. Including buying a pub and inn without any notice.

"Yeah," she replied, squinting slightly as she peered through the window. There was someone sitting just on the other side of the window that she was looking through, but she didn't even notice the scandalized look they gave her as she obviously must have looked as though she was peering in on them. All she could really concentrate on was just who it looked like her father was eating lunch with. "Is that your mum, Ernie?"

Ernie could really help the quizzical way his head tilted to the side as he watched the pair through the glass. This was a bit insane. He mum didn't often come out this way for a meal, unless she was running errands. "Yeah." He answered her question in almost the exact tone she had.

Well, maybe it was just a friendly lunch. Hannah and he had been friends for ages, and he did remember them meeting a few times before now, but that was mostly on platform nine and three quarters. "Maybe they're fri- oh, duck!" He said the minute it looked like the pair where going to look at the window. He ducked below it, grabbing Hannah to pull her down with him.

Hannah's eyes were a bit wide as she ducked with Ernie. What was going on with the world? "My dad hardly ever goes out to eat," she admitted aloud, also not noticing the people looking at the two of them crouching outside the window just as much as she wasn't noticing the people sitting on the other side of the glass - with the exception of their parents, of course. "He just doesn't, you know? It's like.. this is sort of odd."

Sort of being an understatement, she thought, as she decided to risk peering over at them once more to see what was going on now. Hannah just barely peeked, waiting to rise up again until she was sure they weren't looking toward them. "You don't suppose..." she started, remembering that Ernie had mentioned his mother was starting to date again. However, when she glanced at her father, she couldn't help but think that impossible. He hadn't dated anyone - that she knew of - since her mother had died. "No, can't be."

They had to have looked really stupid, but it wasn't on Ernie's mind. He furrowed his brow in thought. He nodded at Hannah's statement. When Hannah made a move to look again so did he. He barely raised up enough to see what was going on, and he noticed the couple directly in front of them giving them dirty looks out of the corner of his eyes.

He turned his head to look at her. "You're right. Can't be. I mean, they're not really acting dateish." He pointed out. Both their parents just seemed to be sitting opposite each other, eating, and talking. Sure you did that on a date, but he'd also do that with Hannah. He turned his head to look at them again. He couldn't hear anything, and his curiosity was going to kill him. Especially when he saw his mum start laughing in what would have to be described as a kind of flirtatious manner. Oh, ew.

"Oh, my," Hannah raised her eyebrows, her jaw dropping a bit. She saw the flirtatious laugh, but then her father saw that laugh and raised her a reach across the table to hold her hand. This time her jaw dropped a lot. This was unbelievable. She was torn between excited that her father was actually dating someone after years and years of his being alone after her mother died and shocked that he was dating Ernie's mother.

"Ernie, I think they're on a date," Hannah whispered, her voice barely audible as though she was afraid to be heard.

He nodded, but he couldn't help it... He was a bit curious, even though he knew it was a date. Ernie had what he was sure was the best idea ever. Of course, in a few days he'd think he was the biggest moron in the world.

"Come on." He whispered back. He grabbed her hand and drug her into the restuarant. He noticed the sign that told the patrons to seat themselves. He suddenly had second thoughts, but it was a bit too late to turn around once they reached the table. He lifted up a menu to hid them both. "I may not have thought this through." He suddenly admitted to her.
