The original incarnation of epithanies was an original fiction community. Now I'm using it for "writerly wank": the type of inkshedding, brainstorming, and random discussion that sounds horribly pretentious to anyone who isn't a writer—and even to writers, it can be pretty wanky. For the record, I know my characters aren't real; I know they're just blips of thoughts and chemicals in my brain. But they exist in their own way, if only symbolically.
