Well, I finally got around to rearranging some stuff so I could actually put the nightstand/endtable that was brought back from my grandmother's where I wanted it. I was tired of waiting for Mom to get her stuff out of my room so I could have space to move things around more easily and went 'The hell with it', and somehow managed with the bit of floorspace I have.

So yay for having access to my desk, lamp, and window again.

I mowed the front half of the backyard earlier. I would have done more but between the the facts that at that point, I needed a break that would have lasted just a bit too long for there to still be daylight by the time I got back out and the leaves and ground in the furthermost portion was still too damp/wet... Hopefully, if it doesn't rain tomorrow and I get up early enough, I'll be able to finish.

Meanwhile, so far as RuneScape goes, I've been picking what skills to work on mainly by what has the least amount of xp needed to level up. Well, aside from the times I'm required to use a different skill in order to work on the other skill. Little hard to smelt/smith whatever if I don't mine the ores I need y'know. ;-P Or in the case of a couple of skills that are designed to be moneypits, spend gp. Which I have to earn somehow. ::headdesks because she doesn't want to spend her hard-earned moneys that she needs to save up for better armor/weapons to fight higher leveled monsters, therefore making more money...::

Passing ENDA - Call your reps! National Call-In Day for Equality

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=180630476026&ref=nf

As we move closer to a House vote on the Employment Non-Discrimination, we need to burn up the phone lines to Congress, and let them know that ENDA is next, ENDA is NOW! We must let Congress know how important ENDA is to LGBT people and all those who care about equality. With your help we can end job discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

Tomorrow is the National Call-In Day for Equality. It’s the day when we flood Congress with our calls demanding equality in the workplace. Tomorrow, talk to Congress. Call them at (202) 224-3121. Give your zip code and ask to be connected to your Senators, and then your Representative. If you haven’t contacted your elected officials, NOW IS THE TIME. Let them know that you support ENDA and you want them to support it, too. If you already have, please do it again.

Prefer to email your representative and senators? Click here and urge them to pass ENDA.

Talk to your friends, family and neighbors and let them know. Start with the simple opening: "Did you know that Congress is considering workplace legislation? Did you know that only 40% of the country is covered are clear laws protecting LGBT people from discrimination?" Ask the people in your life how they feel about that. Then tell them they can help protect people from discrimination based on who they are--ask them to take action.

Share this event with your friends and family and ask them to join this event and pledge an email or phone call to Congress.

It just takes a minute to do your part to end discrimination in the work place.

I finally have my Learner's Permit for driving. Yaaaaay. Thankfully, the process was nice and painless. Managed to be in and out of the MVA in a little under an hour.

I tried to fit a nightstand/endtable into a spot in my room and it's just that teeny bit too wide to fit. Poot. Shall have to figure out what to move and how by much.

I'm back from Indiana. I did try to backtrack through my flist, but when I hit skip150, I said 'screw it' and gave up. I don't feel like trying to read/skim through however many posts.

So. Did I miss anything important? Aside from the tropical storm trying to drown the East Coast, I mean?

NaNo and Knitting

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Well I haven't updated in a while so here we go.

NaNo: Last Sunday and Monday (the 8th and 9th) I didn't write at all so the whole week has been a slog of trying not to fall any further behind. I had a good day today and finally, finally hit a spot where the words didn't require concentrating until I sweated blood to get the out. I'm still behind but I wrote 3k today and if I can manage that again tomorrow I will be caught up.

Knitting: I've got eight inches done on the vest for my Mom for Christmas. That's about 40% complete since Mom is shorter than I am.

Estes Vest - WIP 1

I'm a bit farther along that this now, but I haven't taken a new photo and probably won't until I'm ready to divide for the arm holes in about five inches. Older stuff under the cut. )

handling my degree program issues

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
In my long rant of my life and why I suck, I mentioned I was having issues with my degree program plan.

Here is my letter to the the director of the Publishing Program and currently my boss (Independent Study/Internship in publishing).

reasons why I should be allowed into the Master of Science in Publishing program )

So do you think I made my case?

Mom thinks that I should be a writer writing novels because of how good this and other papers I've written are.

People reports on Daily Mirror calling Daniel Radcliffe a pothead

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
BUZZ: Daniel Radcliffe Plays a Pothead?

Under the headline "Harry Pothead", Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe's mug is splashed across Friday's front page of a British tabloid – showing him in what can only be described as high-spirited party mode.

In the blurry photo, the actor is smoking what the Daily Mirror describes as a "spliff."

But Radcliffe's rep insists he's not smoking what the paper says he's smoking. "We categorically deny the allegations regarding Daniel Radcliffe published in today's Daily Mirror," the rep tells PEOPLE. "Daniel does smoke the occasional roll-up cigarette, but he was not doing anything more than this. We are considering our position and will be taking all necessary action in relation to such allegations."

The photo of the bleary-eyed Radcliffe, 20, also show him with an elaborate, elongated mustache painted on his face.

Party pal Wadia Tazi, 26, tells the Mirror: "Daniel was laughing and seemed to find it funny. But he didn't really look like he knew what was going on."

The paper says the party took place in a North London high-rise and was hosted by a friend of Radcliffe's sometimes girlfriend, actress Laura O'Toole.

bad omen

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
My car is trying to kill me.

My car is an oldsmobile alero and unlike the Toyotas there is no recall on it.

However, yesterday my mom was driving it and the accelerator got stuck. She put it into neutral and pulled off to the side and was able to drive it home.

I got in it and the fucker revved up to 2rpm while I was in PARK and then when I slammed on the brake it didn't get below 1rpm. I was luckily still in park and thus hadn't crashed into anything.

I turned off the car and came in and told my mom. She test drove it. It was fine. I got into the van (that still has the desk I went to College Station and picked up in August) the shocks are shot on the fan so I have to take it easy. As I got in I noticed that the top to the desk is falling apart and as I was driving it down the driveway it got worse.

This on top off all the other shit going on (i.e. my mental break down and virtual cry a few hours earlier) and the fact I can't take the truck because the inside lights don't work and you don't know how fast you are going, I decided 'fuck it' this this is an omen.

All this bad shit.

I'm not going to go class in which all we are doing is work I can do from home. Fuck it.

So I sent off an e-mail informing my professor of what happened. I might have a used a bit of hyperbole in order to make the situation sound a little more worse.

Oh btw, my car is still smelling like gas. So we know I have a leak somewhere but we can't find out where! In addition to my cruise control and various shorts in my car.

In other words, my car is trying to kill me.

p.s. Mom informs me it did not happen when she was driving but when she was moving the car from drive to neutral to park in the driveway as she was parking it.

Oh well.

I still think my car is trying to kill me.

And thus, tomorrow, on my great 26th birthday, I will driving my car to the mechanic's.

just another day
