Summary: Miles needs some help

Miles had spent too much time thinking about what he needed to do. He could get some of the polyjuice ingredients, but some were harder to come by. He wasn't sure why he didn't want to tell Draco when he should. He knew that there were many things that could go wrong with this plan. He didn't want to hear it though. It didn't change the fact that they needed to talk.

Draco,

The situation I owled about earlier is coming around. I need some help with it, or rather I need something that I know you have. I will be coming to the manor shortly if you aren't tied up.

Miles didn't have to be told twice. He wanted to see Draco as well, but there was business that kept the idea from being as fun as it should be. He shook his head as he put on his robes after a quick shower. When had business become his life and taken over effectively? Lately, he had just been feeling off and it was showing. He didn't like it.

He took the floo as usual to Malfoy manor and walked in, shaking off the ash out of his dark hair. He wished the floo was cleaner. It still was not his favorite mode of transportation but all the apparation restrictions made everything suspect, even within England. He looked up to see Draco and smiled in spite of his glum mood. "You look a lot better," he said, finding that he was quite relieved about that. "I have to say that you in the hospital is not something that I care to revisit. Let's not get caught in a trap like that again." He wanted to ask about Astoria too but thought better of it, at least not yet. "Are you feeling better?"

"Thank you. I find that breathing does wonders for my complexion," Draco said with an amused smile, before approaching Miles and kissing him. "It's good to see you as well."

He chuckled. "I'll try not to be in public places where I can be ambushed from now one. Then again, we can just find a way to kill the crazy bitch and be done with it." He nodded. "I feel a lot better, thanks. They finally feel like my lungs again, as opposed to the sensation that I was borrowing them from someone else."

"You were looking a bit too pale there for a few days. The color does you a lot of good," Miles said with a chuckle, returning the kiss while moving a hand through the soft blond locks. "Breathing is a good thing as well."

His teeth tapped together and he made a face. "Yes, she is actually why I am here. I decided that we could use some information, like what the hell she is planning. I could possibly forgive her and see what is going on?" He raised a brow, not sure what Draco felt about that. It was more dangerous now than it was before since Alecto had shown her instability, as well as a bloodlust for anyone in the way, including those she liked.

"I would take offence to the idea that I was less than perfect, but I did use a mirror while in St. Mungo's," he said, smiling.

Draco sighed when he heard that the visit was linked to Alecto. "You want to spy, is that it? No disrespect, Miles, but you aren't Snape. Granted, she's no Dark Lord either, but it's still dangerous, and I'm not sure that that she had a rational plan past the fact that she wants to kill everyone." He stepped back a little so he could watch Miles better. "So what's going on?"

"I don't know if I would use the term imperfect, but definitely ghostly," Miles said with his usual charming grin until it turned serious.

He took Draco's hand and moved over to the sofa so they could at least be comfortable. "I'm not saying that I want to but really, is there someone else who has a chance here? I know it's dangerous but she isn't about to trust anyone else, even me possibly but I have an in at least." His blues eyes scanned Draco's grey ones, not finding them cold. "I know she wants to test my loyalty and I can keep that to a minimum. She wants polyjuice potion or the ingredients to start with. Ingredients should be sufficient as it take a month to brew, and we know that we have that much time." He couldn't say that the possible consequences weren't weighing on his mind. They definitely were. "I do know what I am doing."

Draco followed Miles to the couch, and sat down next to him. However, he got tenser with each word. "Are you insane? Do you really want me to tell you all the reasons why this is a bad idea? One, she's insane. You can't predict things with someone like that. Trust me, I knew my aunt. Two, she doesn't trust you. She trusts no one. That's something else that mad women share. Three, how is this supposed to help? You give her the polyjuice, you find out what she wants to do and then what do you do? If you tell anyone and stop it, she's going to kill you. If you don't tell, you're an accomplish. Four, forget about your job. If they find out, you'll go straight to Azkaban. Five, where the hell do you think we'll get the ingredients. Sure we can get the basic ones, but so can she. The more specific ones are controlled, and there's no way that we can get to them without raising suspicions. Why should we risk our lives when the Ministry can deal with this?"

Miles took what Draco had to say in stride. There wasn't anything there that he didn't know. "Draco," he said, trying to calm him. His hand covered Draco's and he thought about what he was going to say. "I know she is insane but I also know that I will be fine. I also know that between the two of us, we can figure something out that keeps me among the living. She has already proven that she will attack us so doing nothing will not help our cause, neither will allowing the ministry to get the job done. They don't have the first fucking clue."

He scanned Draco's eyes. "I know you can get your hands on the stuff. I might have another source as well." He really hadn't though of one but there were always options. "Come on. Waiting for her to make another move puts us all at risk."

"No, you don't," Draco said without having to think about it. "If you think for a moment that you're safe than you're insane, too. You can't stay safe with someone insane. I know. I've done it with the Dark Lord and with my aunt. There's no way you can ensure that you'll stay alive. I know what she'd done, but you don't erase the danger by throwing yourself in front of it. You diminish it by avoiding places where you can get hurt."

Draco shook his head. "No, I can't, not without putting myself in danger. Things are being controlled at the moment. I can't exactly walk into a store and order them. If she's so keen to getting them, why doesn't she contact an apothecary outside the country? She can go abroad and get it."

Miles raised his hands in frustration. "Do you ever get tired of not doing anything? There is a point to a certain degree, but I just saw the people I care about in the hospital because of all this senseless bullshit and that could easily happen again, especially if we just wait and see."

He looked into Draco's eyes with fiery blue ones. "We can minimize the danger if we actually work together, and we can pull this off. Salazar forbid that you actually take a risk again. I'm the one putting my arse on the line anyway. You know how useful it is. Let's do it." He put his hand back over Draco's. He needed his help.
