Narrative
Who: Hannah Abbott
When: May 31, 2000 after leaving Theodore's party (backdated)
Where: The Bones' Home
Status: Complete
Rating: G
Summary: Hannah packs her things.
Hannah crept upstairs, not wanting to have to explain to Mr Bones just why she was sneaking around in a tattered ballgown. She went to the sparse room that had been her home for the past few months, gathering all her things into a bag and changing into jeans, a solid pair of boots, and a warm shirt.
She doubted it would be long before Susan was back, and she didn't want to make things any messier than they already were. Hannah wished she hadn't been so cold to her friend over the past few days, but she had been miserable, knowing that she could never be what Susan needed, never even be the kind of friend she needed.
Looking around the room one last time, Hannah pulled out her notebook, almost as an afterthought.
Dear Susan,
I'm sorry to leave like this, but I know you will be better off without me around to hold you back. Don't worry about me, I'm a fighter. I will come and see you when things are better, I only ask that you don't go looking for me. One day I will make you a beautiful garden.
I will be staying with some friends of my uncle.
With love and many apologies,
Hannah
She had added the last line almost as an afterthought. In truth, Hannah had no idea where she was going to go. There were things she would rather not do to survive, but she would do whatever it took if it meant regaining some of her own freedom.
Tucking the note under Susan's door with the last of her wizarding money, Hannah crept out the back door and into the night.
