If things kept up at this rate, dinner would surely be forgotten before long. The project had started as an idea over half a decade old and originally, the machinist wasn't certain it was possible at all. However, with each passing project, with each new idea brought into reality, and completed until point of full functionality, it seemed more and more real. The idea of the hulking machine was within her grasp, now, if only she could precisely figure out how to fit it all together. A hand raised, half covered with grease and pushed some idle strands of hair out of her eyes, leaving a smudge of the brownish substance along her temple. There were plenty of ideas. In fact, she'd even gathered together some of her previous tinkerings and creations, and piled them onto her work station today. Now, she would attempt to figure out how to plaster them all together, how to make them work in harmony. A balance of weight, strength and propulsion to give the user the greatest benefit. In front of her laid the bare bone structure of a mechanical limb. From the number of times she'd work with Kurtz, she'd gotten a good idea where the gears, support posts, gears and so on needed to go for flexibility points. Thankfully, this didn't need to be nearly as complex as the smith's limbs were. However, since it would only prove to be an exoskeleton in the end there was a lot of work that would need to be done for restructuring purposes still. Then came two hover plates. Ones much like what she had inserted into her hover board to make it rise up before the rear propulsion system moved it forward. Finally, the mechanized jump boots. A pair of them had been broken apart, removing the external casing, to show exactly how all the support structures interplayed with the hydraulic boost systems, and how the gears or cogs all fit together appropriately. Now, the trick was making the intricate plans she had formulated in her head for the merging of the three items, to make a sort of 'rocket boot', into reality. |
