She seemed to be ending up here a lot, lately, hadn’t she? This time, she didn’t even bother with the hat. Not only was it a flimsy disguise, but the same ‘short-haired girl in a white hat’ showing up three times in the past few months might bring about suspicions and rumors, and the tenement district of Emillion had more than enough of those to get around. They didn’t need any that Stone knew were of herself.
This casting room of the Mages Tower was suspiciously empty; the thief had figured that there were the always-diligent scholars were training here nigh-constantly. Then again, she supposed they had daily business to attend to as well. Not that it mattered to her.
Stone was, at the time, waiting for a man she had met over the network to arrive. He had offered to teach her a spell, so long as the pale youth had found a scroll. She had, and figured that there was no reason to delay any further—yet errands were asked and favors were called, she had to keep up work for Aspel, and then another task for the Guild had to be completed. Not that she complained about any of this, as it supplied her pockets and coin pouch.
It did mean, however, that prior engagements had to be… postponed. She had finally, after all was said and done, managed to message the poor man once more, briefly, and somewhat vaguely, explaining her situation and offering to visit him the very next day.
Here she was, in the designated room, and she waited. Compared to how long she had made him wait, this was nothing.
