The service had been intense. It was a clear response to the actions that had happened. Many people flooded the church in their time of need and they needed comfort, some direction, some talks of Faram's retribution against evil. Seloria didn't care for any of it. Her love of Faram wasn't what he could do for her, but rather what she could do for him. Many didn't understand that as the way, but Faram wasn't a one-sided god so it worked out fine.
Seloria thought about making a quick change in her clothing before going down to the docks. Going to such a place in Sunday's finest wasn't always the best of ideas, but there was always appearances to keep. She wanted to look as if she hadn't thought about changing or it had suddenly slipped her mind. If anyone asked...well, she just felt this was more important and she could always buy more clothes. That was the truth. The girl did not lie. It was one of those things that surprised people. It gave her a lovely upper hand as everyone expected lies from all angles.
She'd had some sailors set up a table for her. Some of their comments were untoward. They roughhoused and fought over how to treat her properly as she was helping and she only smiled nicely at them and thanked them for their help. Eventually there were two sentries on either side of her to ensure she wasn't robbed. There was also a dagger that hid withing the folds of her dress. It wasn't fancy, but it'd saved her life once or twice.
Being in the thieves guild wasn't the safest when people viewed you as some sort of rival.
A fresh cloth laid upon the table, there was a lock box set upon it. A sign had been roughly painted to show people where to make their donations. It probably would have been safer at the church, but she wasn't going for safety. She was going for the full effect of the entire event. People would come down and see her in the midst of destruction. She'd be clean and smiling at first, but at the end of the day she would most likely end up dirt smudged and weary.
Reinholdt said to gain favor and endear herself to the people. What better way than to show that you were willing to "lower" yourself from a high place. Show them you weren't afraid to be close to them if you could. Also, it didn't hurt to help secure and rebuild your home. Two birds with one stone.
