Can you tell me where I am? You, won't you say something? I need to get my bearings...
Who: Aspel, Vivi, Guy & Ari
What: An Adventure! (Alt title: Getting Wood.)
Where: A town half a day by chocobo east of Emillion, at an inn.
When: Dinner time!
Rating: PG maybe?
Status: Complete.
Certainly, she could have waited for her shipment of the hard to find wood to come in, but it would seem with all of the hype The Armory had earned in the past few weeks, and then with the attack on the docks in addition, staffs and rods were bound to be in high demand, if not now, than shortly. Not to mention, Dark Wood, a strong and sturdy wood that some even claimed was as strong as steel, (though Aspel had her doubt) was lightweight in comparison to other items made of oak, pine, hemlock and even the birches. In fact, it probably wouldn’t be far fetched to claim it easily weighed half as much as the others while maintaining at least the same level of strength. However, because of this factor, it was a high demand item and also bared the price of supply and demand. Really, this trip was a blessing. Even if Aspel could only get a couple trees worth of material, it could easily save her thousands of gil in what she would have to pay out for a dealer and the cost of the other services being rendered would be minor in comparison. The downfall was that those costs were upfront and her payoff would be down the road and there was no way to assure when down the road that would be. Regardless, they group left early in the day, expecting to get to town and gather info in order to confirm if what she had heard was actually true and then they’d spend the night. Saturday would be going out into the woods to scout for the materials, plant a few seedlings to help counterbalance what they had taken (not that Aspel expected anyone but herself to take part in that), return to the town with their new cargo, spend another night in the town if needed. Sunday they would head out first thing in the morning, as soon as the sun began to rise, in order to make it back to Emillion by late morning if it could be helped. The trip should have been easy. A pleasant ride on Chocobo (Aspel owned a personal one she rather affectionately referred to as Orchid), with witty banter, friendly conversation, amusing jokes and perhaps a touch of flirting was what Apsel had been expecting. They’d get to the inn, set their things aside and have half a day to wonder around a town without fret. However, expectations and reality did not seem to mesh this morning, especially after the strange curt ending to the conversation with Ari via the network. First, there had been the sort of briefness of comments. It wasn’t unfriendly, but it certainly wasn’t what she had become accustomed to over the past few years, which simply left Aspel feeling a bit put out at best. Though, that would not end her day, surely once they got into the town, there would be plenty of time for curious endeavors and rest! Then the trip out ended up taking longer than expected, landing them there later than planned, but surely that would have to be the end of their bad luck, right? That was... Until she found out that there had been a mix up with the reservation and it appeared that only two rooms had been reserved instead of four. Which left Apsel feeling frustrated beyond words, yet luckily she had managed to maintain composure enough and when she inquired regarding additional rooms, it appeared that the inn was all booked up. Just her luck. Well, regardless, Aspel had checked them in as she had made the reservations, asking that if any rooms became available that they be notified immediately. For now though, it was dinner time, and they most certainly could all use a bite to eat. Without hesitation the smith headed right for the nearest place to eat and easily invited everyone else to join along. After all, they would need to figure out how to sort this room mess... Which she was feeling rather horrid about. Settling into a table, Aspel shifted, an idle attempt at getting comfortable after being Chocobo bound most of the day. A fine bottle of mead would be requested of the nearest waitress before even their menus were even brought to the table. Frowning Aspel glanced around the table, the people she’d brought out on this venture were probably just as road worn as she was at this point. “My apologies for the mix up regarding the rooms, if I am unable to sort this out before we turn in for the evening, I will gladly relinquish any hold I have regarding bedding for the rest of you.” A hand reached up, fingers combing back through her hair uneasily. |
